AI-Related Misinformation Poses Threat to Elections

A recent report by the World Economic Forum shows that 4.2 billion people are about to cast ballots in 2024. With such a huge number ready to vote, misinformation and deception may be used instead of the intended democratic process in the age of AI. Given the confluence of the “post-truth era,” election procedures, and the recent explosion in generative AI, tech firms, governments, and media outlets need to think carefully about how they can support democratic processes. According to the Global Risks Report 2024, misinformation and disinformation pose the greatest threat to stability since they cast doubt on the validity of election outcomes.

Google’s Gemini Chatbot Faces Roadblock Over Credibility

In recent months, there has been increased criticism of the AI business. The main causes of the problems are numerous concerns with “accuracy” and “credibility” taking center stage. Microsoft’s AI system was recently the subject of criticism after an employee claimed that the system was generating “offensive images.” Furthermore, the allegations align with Google’s detractors. Google was charged with exploiting its Gemini AI tool to produce incorrect photos. Subsequently, Google ceased collecting images of individuals in response to complaints. The main question raised was over how its Gemini AI engine processed images according to racial categories. According to reports, Google acknowledged that they were fixing recent problems with the image-generating function of Gemini. After that, the business decided to give up on photographing people.
