Nerayoff’s Tussle with Government

Terrett also highlights that though Nerayoff’s federal charge was dismissed with “prejudice”, his legal team feels that there was sufficient harm done to his enterprises and reputation to warrant pursuing the claim. This makes the former Ethereum adviser’s case strong enough against the government.

Nerayoff’s Continuous Court Battles

Despite playing an essential role in setting up the pace in Ethereum’s early days, Nerayoff has been in constant set of court cases with regulators and Ethereum leadership alike. Some of these infamous tussles include charges against Jay Clayton and Gary Gensler, members of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and prominent Ethereum personalities like Buterin.

Nerayoff has before stated that he was the target of a planned and orchestrated character assassination attempt by Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin and his father, Dmitry Buterin. He was eventually exonerated of all extortion accusations, nevertheless. Nerayoff had also caused a stir in the industry by asserting that regulators gave Ethereum special treatment, calling the phenomenon as  “ETHGate.”
