Manta Network Rolls Out Second Version of Incentivized Dolphin Testnet
Following the success of Dolphin testnet version 1 (v1), Substrate-based privacy protocol Manta Network has launched the Dolphin testnet v2. Unlike v1, v2 is a fully-incentivized testnet with the key goal of encouraging broader community participation in testing and sharing their feedback.
Dolphin v2 offers its own enclosed ecosystem while simulating the exact features of both Polkadot and Kusama ecosystems, allowing users to test and experiment with protocols before they are live on Manta and Calamari networks.
Within a week of its launch, Dolphin v2 has received overwhelming support and participation from the community. To date, the Dolphin testnet v2 has processed over 37,596 transactions across 9,415 unique wallet addresses. Additionally, it has also registered around 6,754 signer downloads. At this rate, it seems Dolphin v2 will surpass v1’s performance within the next week. To compare, Dolphin v1 has so far processed over 60,000 transactions across 6,000 unique wallet addresses.
Incentivized Testnet To Gather Community Feedback
Even though Manta’s Dolphin v2 testnet has been out for a week, it has experienced immense participation. This further demonstrates that Manta and its community are committed to making DeFi more scalable, interoperable, secure, and private. The DeFi-centered privacy protocols from Manta Network use zkSnarks and Groth16 zero-knowledge proofs to hide wallet addresses completely. So, users can hide their portfolio management activities, which is especially useful for frequent and high-volume transactions.
Dolphin v2 brings some major updates and unlocks a suite of new features for users to test. In the v2 testnet, users can now enjoy added features such as an updated wallet protocol for MantaPay, faster hash processing, reusable shielded addresses, better compliance, and a self-updating signer. Users can test and experiment with these newly-added features and protocols before going live.
Other than being fully incentivized, Dolphin v2 is also open for all. Anyone can try out the incentivized testnet by obtaining testnet tokens from the Dolphin Faucet on Manta’s official Discord server and stand a chance to qualify for Manta Network’s upcoming airdrop. Just like Dolphin v1, v2 also features a feedback form. Users can contribute to the feedback form and follow other instructions listed on Manta’s Gleam campaign to increase their chances of qualifying for the airdrop.
Commenting on the success of the Dolphin testnet, Kenny Li, COO of Manta Network, notes, “The purpose of v1 was to collect as much feedback from the core community as possible. 500 responses and thousands of pieces of feedback were used to create Dolphin v2. Accordingly, the feedback received from our v2 testnet will be used to further optimize our product suite, thus adding more privacy and security across the blockchain ecosystem.”
