Coinbase has announced WooCommerce Plugin that will allow over 49 million online stores to accept cryptocurrency payments in Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and Litecoin (LTC) directly from their customers anywhere in the world. In order to boost crypto adoption, Coinbase also introduced other features.

Coinbase announces WooCommerce plugin

One of the biggest digital asset platforms has made yet another step towards the cryptocurrency adoption. In the latest development, Coinbase Commerce has announced its WooCommerce plugin.

One of the first non-custodial crypto payment solutions, Coinbase Commerce enables merchants located anywhere in the world to accept crypto payments directly from their customers.

In its official blog, Coinbase announces that the merchants that are using WooCommerce now be able to “start accepting cryptocurrencies as a form of payment” much easier.

WooCommerce is one of the most popular eCommerce platforms that powers over 28 percent of all online stores. With over 49 million WooCommerce downloads, all of these online stores will have access to crypto payments from customers all around the world.

Boosting cryptocurrency adoption

Coinbase has four cryptos currently listed on its trading platform i.e. Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin (LTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and Ethereum (ETH). As for the WooCommerce plugin of Coinbase, it is available on GitHub. In its official blog, the company shared:

“This increased access will lead to more widespread adoption, and ultimately, moves us closer to our goal of an open financial system.”

The Coinbase Blog also shared other features introduced by them that involves a “new functionality to allow for the sending of Bitcoin and Litecoin directly from Coinbase Commerce.” The similar functionality will also be introduced for Bitcoin Cash and Ethereum.

Coinbase has apparently just started as its shares,

“We’re just getting started on our quest to make cryptocurrencies an easy payment option and are continually improving Coinbase Commerce based on your awesome feedback.”

Moreover, a React component has been also released that will allow quick and easy acceptance of crypto payments. The Coinbase team also announced a Python library for Coinbase Commerce API, which is first in a few libraries to be released to boost crypto adoption.
