On the auspicious occasion of the Holi, the Indian Railways System has approached a unique celebration plan. The traveler will travel with a customized NFT Train ticket instead of the regular tickets. So, what’s happening? Let’s discuss that in this blog.
Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRTC) recently, on 13 March, announced a unique Non-Fungible Token (NFT) based ticket option where travellers will experience the heritage of two of India’s most popular cities. On the special occasion of Holi, the Indian Railways System has allocated NFT train tickets for two Tejas trains running between Delhi and Lukhnow.

The user will have access to these tickets from March 20 onwards for the chosen Tejas train with serial numbers 82501 and 82502. These NFT tickets will include sketches related to Delhi and Lucknow heritage sites next to some very vibrant backgrounds.
IRTC shared this news along with a sneak peek of these tickets on their official X handle. The post stated that these special tickets will be available for train booking till the 2nd of April. Through the X post, the team explained the importance of these tickets, stating, “These tickets are not merely digital souvenirs.” The post further continues explaining the benefits of acquiring the NFT Train ticket.
The pricing details haven’t been out for these tickets yet. It has to see whether all of these will be complimentary for travelers or if they will adhere to some additional charges.
These NFT Tickets symbolize our dedication to enriching your journey experiences, allowing you to personalize your travel memories with your photographs and enjoy exclusive offers from handpicked brands.
The Indian government has been fond of blockchain-related projects and has adapted to many. Similar to this NFT Train ticket, Indian railways have previously also offered NFT Train tickets for the Ayodhya journey.
In a post, the Indian Railways said,
More than just a ticket to Ayodhya Dham – a souvenir of the divine Shree Ramotsav. Treasure the pious memories of Lord Shree Rama’s arrival forever with Blockchain NFT.
There has been another collaboration of the IRS with the famous Polygon blockchain. The National Academy of Indian Railways organized a workshop to spread awareness of how blockchain benefits railway operations.
A few other government organizations have also supported the NFTs and blockchain industry. Up to now, multiple times they have opted for these technologies for a great cause.
India’s NFT space is supposed to generate around $15.8 Million this year, with an annual growth of 8.6% for the next few years. Introducing more of this technology in government programs can bring better results on NFT investments for Indian users.
Indian Railways Systems’ decision to offer NFT Train Ticket will bring a new experience to travelers as the people will get to carry their NFT memories along with them. The previous introduction of NFTs for the Ayodhya journey was a success, bringing joy and happiness to thousands of devotees, and this year’s Holi celebration might turn extra special with this decision.
