Maya Harris seized the spotlight from sister Kamala Harris at the recent DNC event, winning many voters’ hearts. The Democratic National Committee had finished a four-day successful event, where the Maya became the talk of the town as she left a heartfelt speech for her sister while remembering their mother’s learning.

With every new day, new political rallies and debates entertain the voters with the nearing US 2024 elections. Once again, Biden and Trump clashed in elections, making it much more fascinating. However, one more candidate is in the limelight as US Vice-President Harris accepts the Democratic Party nomination for the US Presidential elections.

Who is Maya Harris? Why Is Everyone Curious About Her?

Maya Harris is the second child of Donald J Harris and Shyamala Gopalan and the younger sister of the vice president Kamala. Other than being sisters, there are many similarities between Maya Harris and sister Kamala, also a highlight of the DNC event. Maya is a lawyer like Kamala and a public policy advocate after studying at Stanford University Law School. She has worked as a litigator, law professor, and Dean of Lincoln Law School of San Jose in her early days.

She later became the executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) before joining politics like her sister. In her career, she majorly worked with policy and civil rights other than working on racial and gender justice.

More importantly, Maya served as a senior policy advisor to Hilary Clinton during the 2016 presidential campaign. She was also the campaign chairman of Kamala Harris’s 2020 unsuccessful bid for the Democratic nominee.

Maya came into the spotlight when she made an appearance on the 4th day of the Democratic National Convention. She confidently supported her sister and talked of the great values their Indian-origin mother had taught them. At one point, revealed to the audience how her sister knows being the underdog in the United States, like others.

Interestingly, she did not hold back talking about Donald Trump, speaking of how few people want them to drag to the past, but her sister does not believe in holding back. This also becomes important because Donald Trump regained the lead against Kamala with user sentiment. With this, Maya has hinted at how her sister is not scared to compete and even win.

The 57-year-old activist is the mother to Meena Harris and grandmother to  Amara and Leela. Maya is seen as a great-grandmother because of her constant posts about her granddaughters on her Instagram and other social media platforms. Meena is married to Nikolas Ajagu and was a matchmaker for her mother when she was just four.

Maya was a teen mom and later met her husband, Tony West. In an interview, Maya revealed that her daughter was playing at her college, which resulted in a meeting with Tony.

Kamala is married to  Doug Emhoff, a 59-year-old Los Angeles entertainment lawyer. However, he is now utilizing all his time to support his wife in the political works. She only has a little family from her side after their parents divorced and later lost their mother. However, with this marriage, she made a family as she became the step-mom of Cole and Ella Emhoff. These two have called her the world’s greatest step-mom in the  2020 DNC, appreciating everything she has done for them. Even Dough’s ex-wife has only had good things to say about Kamala Harris. She showed appreciation for the way Kamla handled the family and Cole and Ella.

With this, the VP is now known for tolerance and strength against anyone’s criticism and challenges in her way. Moreover, the attention is on her as Kamala Harris to back the crypto market following DNC Policies after her earlier refusal.
