AI News: NVIDIA Launches ChatGPT Killer, Chat With RTX
Highlights
- NVIDIA has launched Chat with RTX, an application accessible on its PCs
- The new product is the AI giant's new venture to deepen its role in the tech scene
- Chat With RTX designed to compete with ChatGPT
OpenAI’s ChatGPT is seeing a new major competition and this time around, top American technology company NVIDIA is the one pushing the frontiers.
NVIDIA Debuts Chatbot
NVIDIA has just launched a new ChatGPT killer dubbed Chat with RTX. This tool is designed to allow GeForce RTX 30 Series and 40 Series card owners to run Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered chatbots while offline on a Windows PC. Precisely, these entities would be able to customize a GenAI model similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
Chat with RTX will achieve this by connecting to documents, files, and notes that it can then query. Noteworthy, NVIDIA warned interested users that downloading all the files will consume a large amount of storage. The firm thinks that it could be as much as 50 GB or even 100 GB although this is highly dependent on the model being utilized.
According to a blog post from NVIDIA, the firm noted that “rather than searching through notes or saved content, users can simply type queries. For example, one could ask, ‘What was the restaurant my partner recommended while in Las Vegas?’ and Chat with RTX will scan local files the user points it to and provide the answer with context.”
The new tool is quite similar to Mistral’s open-source model but at the same time, it supports other text-based Large Language Models (LLM) like Meta’s Llama 2. It supports different formats including text, PDF, .doc, .docx, and .xml., therefore, once the app comes across a folder that contains any of these supported files, they automatically get loaded into the model’s fine-tuning dataset.
Beyond this, it could even load transcriptions of videos on YouTube via their URL, and thereafter, enable whichever model is selected to query their contents. While it has a lot of functions, NVIDIA’s RTX can not recall context hence, it does not regard previous questions when asked a follow-up question.
RTX can also be affected by other factors including the performance of the selected model, the size of the fine-tuning dataset, and question rephrasing, which can also be regarded as prompt engineering.
NVIDIA Hits Different Milestones
The launch of Chat with RTX is one of the many milestones that the technology company has achieved in the last few months. NVIDIA recently outranked e-commerce giant Amazon by becoming the 4th largest United States company in terms of market capitalization.
Also, NVIDIA chips have been recognized by Chinese military entities, state-owned artificial intelligence research centers, and universities that actively purchased batches. It is imminent that NVIDIA is growing in a way that is enriching many early investors and it is choosing to spread its tentacles in an area that is dominated by ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini AI.
