OpenAI chief executive officer Sam Altman to launch his Woldcoin crypto on Monday. After he revealed its tokenomics earlier, the distribution plan of Worldcoin tokens will also be made public today, according to a report which cites sources familiar with the matter.

Worldcoin, an iris biometric cryptocurrency project. It also includes the World ID system, iris-scanner Orb, and Wold App wallet. While several experts have raised privacy and safety concerns with the project, Worldcoin co-founder Sam Altman suggests that privacy concerns over the company’s iris-scanning AI will diminish when they open-source code.

Worldcoin’s official Twitter account posted a message late Sunday saying “It’s time. 24.7.23.” The post did not have further details.

A spokeswoman at Tools for Humanity, the technology company behind Woldcoin, has declined to comment on the launch or further details.

In fact, crypto exchange OKX has opened the Worldcoin (WLD) recharge page, which supports ERC20 and Optimism.

The company raised $115 million in a Series C round from Blockchain Capital. Other investors include a16z, Bain Capital Crypto, and Distributed Global. In March last year, the company raised $100 million at a $3 billion valuation.

According to Arkham Intelligence data, a total of 1 billion Worldcoin tokens are issued. The contract address for Worldcoin is 0x163f8C2467924be0ae7B5347228CABF260318753. A part of total WLD tokens was sent to the deposit addresses of crypto exchanges OKX and Bybit. Currently, a total of six wallet addresses hold more than 95% of WLD.
