Discord May Soon Add Ethereum (ETH) Support, This Hint From CEO Raises Speculations
Discord, the popular social network platform might be integrating Ethereum (ETH) support soon as the CEO of the company Jason Citron’s recent tweet raised speculations. Citron posted a screenshot of the Discord settings page that shows the possibility of integrating Ethereum and also added the famous quote “probably nothing,” often used in light of significant crypto events.

The Ethereum integration speculations almost got confirmed as the screenshot also shows the option for users to add $ETH via Metamask and chain-agnostic wallet connector WalletConnect. These options were not available on the Discord app until Tuesday morning. Thus, it is clear that the screenshot is most probably from a development team.
Discord has rapidly made its way to the top among social interaction platforms, despite the market being crowded by numerous social network platforms. Many claim it to be the potential social network of web 3.0 as one expert called it “Web 3.0 sleeper,” given its popularity among the crypto community and its rising global usage. The platform was developed with gamers in focus but later caught on with the crypto community as well.
Will Others Follow Discord’s Lead?
Cryptocurrencies have gone truly mainstream this year not just because it is being widely accepted and governments are formulating inclusive regulations to promote their use, but mostly because people now see the real value of it. Over the past week, Miami Mayor and New York City Mayor-elect announced they would accept their salary in Bitcoin.
Discord might add Ethereum support soon, however, Twitter had added support for Bitcoin tipping via the lightning network, while Reddit also has a tipping option. Looking at the fast pace of crypto integration on online platforms, many other social networks might follow Discord’s lead. Crypto adoption has created a domino effect where when a company or a country integrates crypto support, many others follow.
Ethereum ($ETH) hit a new all-time high of $4,837 earlier today with its eyes set on $5,0000. The second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap is also heading towards the transition to ETH 2.0, and experts predict its price to reach $10K this bull cycle.

The crypto market cap breached the $3 trillion mark for the first time as many market pundits predicted the beginning of another bull cycle. Bitcoin touched a new ATH as well breaching $68K as majority of the crypto market traded in the green.
