Elon Musk’s AI Grok Under Scrutiny For Slamming Kamala Harris
Highlights
- U.S. state secretaries plan sending open letter to Elon Musk for immediate changes to Grok.
- The letter comes in the aftermath of Grok spreading misinformation on Kamala Harris and the U.S. elections.
- Harris' winning odds gain significant traction.
Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok has garnered significant scrutiny from U.S. state secretaries over its recent rebuking remarks on Kamala Harris, the Democratic Vice President. Recent updates reveal that five U.S. state secretaries plan to send an open letter to the American entrepreneur to implement ‘immediate changes’ to its xAI-backed LLM (Large Language Model), Grok.
Amid the recent shift of tides in favor of the Democratic Party member in the ongoing U.S. presidential campaign, Grok has been held accountable for spreading false information.
Open Letter To Elon Musk Mandates Changes To Grok
Notably, the letter by the U.S. state secretaries is aimed at urging Elon Musk to make changes to Grok, particularly over the chatbot suggesting that Kamala Harris was not eligible to appear on the 2024 presidential ballot. The letter is fronted by the Minnesota Secretary of State, Steve Simon.
Further, it is jacked up by Al Schmidt of Pennsylvania, Steve Hobbs of Washington, Jocelyn Benson of Michigan, and Maggie Toulouse Oliver of New Mexico. For context, the open letter mandates the American entrepreneur to “immediately implement changes to X’s AI search assistant, Grok, to ensure voters have accurate information in this critical election year.”
With Joe Biden stepping down from the presidential candidate stage, Elon Musk’s Grok also spread misinformation on ballot deadlines, users reported on various social media platforms. Meanwhile, the Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris’s winning odds have conversely taken an intriguing turn.

Kamala Harris ‘Trumps’ Donald Trump?
Intriguingly, Harris’ winning odds have gained significant traction in recent days. Latest poll results from the NY Times show that Donald Trump‘s odds are 48%, while the Vice President’s chances stand at 47%. This data underscores a paradigm shift in nationwide sentiment, as the Republican Party member’s odds once stood above 50% amid this election cycle.
Also, Bitcoin critic Peter Schiff recently weighed in on Harris’ winning odds. He stated, “the efforts by the media to redefine Harris as a highly competent moderate and Trump and Vance as just plain weird is working.”
Altogether, Grok’s misinformation on Harris amid recent events has further added to concerns surrounding AI-driven risks in elections. An official response from Elon Musk, aka the Tesla and SpaceX lead, is yet to be seen.
