Solana Price Performance Under Threat, “HYPE Flips SOL”, Says Top Expert
Highlights
- Solana price action faces the threat of being outperformed by Hyperliquid’s HYPE token, predicts Arthur Hayes.
- The $180 price level remains the only hurdle SOL has to clear before it rockets. HYPE, on the other hand, has established a new all-time high at $37.765.
- Hayes' comments follow a previous tweet where he forecast HYPE would hit $100.
BitMEX co-founder and former CEO Arthur Hayes provided a bold price forecast for Hyperliquid’s HYPE token, revealing it could flip Solana’s price performance. He outlined his prediction on X, where he claimed his ‘degen’ target this bull season was for HYPE to flip SOL and become among the top ten largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.
Solana Price Performance Faces Headwinds as Expert Eyes HYPE as Emerging Leader
Solana (SOL) price performance could be flipped by Hyperliquid’s HYPE token if the SOL token fails to breach the $180 level, a critical resistance level that has been blocking it for the second consecutive week. Should this scenario unfold, Solana could drop to $140 – $150 level.
A scenario that could make way for the HYPE token to outshine Solana by price performance. Particularly if the Hyperliquid token achieves Arthur Hayes’ projected target of $100.
Hayes made two bold predictions regarding HYPE, the latest one where he forecasted that HYPE could surpass Solana in market value. Earlier on May 22, 2025, the former BitMEX CEO had also projected that HYPE could reach a price of $100, an outlook he shared in response to the viral spotlight on James Wynn’s massive $1.1 billion leveraged position on Hyperliquid.
However, chances are still high for Solana’s price performance to flip the $180 resistance into a support level. At press time, the SOL token trades at $180.19, where a decisive close above $184 could open the door to upside targets at $264. A break below the resistance level to the $160 range would invalidate the current bullish structure and expose the $140 region.

HYPE Reaches New All-time High at $37.765
Momentum for $HYPE is surging, with the token hitting a new all-time high at $37.765 alongside notable open interest of $1.3B. In addition, the RSI spiked from 49.98 to 82.81 in just one day, an indication of aggressive buying pressure.

With a proven team and increasing on-chain traction, Bitcoin analyst Luciano believes $HYPE is poised to challenge—and potentially flip—major altcoins like $LINK and $SUI this quarter.
Such bullish sentiments, the strong performance, and the bold prediction posted by Athur Hayes about the Hype token has the potential to drive more momentum and push the price to higher levels.
Conclusion
While Solana’s price forecast has evaluated the risk of stalling and retracing to lower levels due to the strong $180 resistance, SOL still holds the potential to reverse this zone into a support base. However, if momentum fades and the breakout fails, a drop toward the $140 level remains likely, opening the gate for HYPE to overtake SOL in price performance.
