He also joins the crypto community to celebrate crypto candidates’ victory and Donald Trump’s win in the 2024 presidential election.
Trump pulled off an electoral victory against incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris in this year’s election with 277 electoral votes and 71.2 million votes, securing 51% of the popular vote. Democratic candidate Kamala Harris took 224 electoral votes and 66.28 million votes, or 47.5% of the total.
Garlinghouse’s 100-Day Crypto Agenda for Trump
Responding to the election’s impact on crypto markets, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse compiled a list of the top things Trump should do to in his first 100 days in order to give the US crypto industry a fillip.
A long-time advocate of more explicit crypto regulations, especially after the ongoing legal tussle of Ripple with the US Securities and Exchange Commission-SEC, Garlinghouse called for a change in leadership atop the SEC, specifically urging the ouster of SEC Chair Gary Gensler. Trump had vowed earlier to terminate Gensler if re-elected, and he renewed that vow at the Bitcoin 2024 Conference.
.@realDonaldTrump, Congratulations!
Some fodder for your first 100-day checklist to get things moving:
– Fire Gensler. Day 1, no delays.
– In his place, appoint Giancarlo, Brooks, or Gallagher – they’d be massive upgrades in rebuilding the rule of law (and reputation) at the…— Brad Garlinghouse (@bgarlinghouse) November 6, 2024
Garlinghouse mentioned some possible candidates to replace Gensler: former CFTC Chairman Christopher Giancarlo, former Acting Comptroller of the Currency Brian Brooks, and former SEC Commissioner Dan Gallagher for whom the crypto community said Donald Trump could bring.
Beyond leadership changes, he emphasized that bipartisan support toward adopting a comprehensive digital asset market structure bill will bridge regulatory gaps and offer added clarity for the crypto industry.
He also called for clarity over asset classes, with particular emphasis on the likes of Ethereum’s cryptocurrency, ETH.
The Ripple CEO , said that the Trump administration needs to spell out whether ETH is a security issue. This highly contentious issue has not yet been resolved in the industry. Although the SEC approved Ethereum ETFs, the institution has not explicitly classified ETH.
Trump promised to bring more clarity to the crypto market, hold Bitcoin as it is held by the government, and not create a CBDC.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse Celebrates ‘Crypto Voter’ Win
Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple Labs, took to X on US election day November 5 to celebrate the victory of crypto. The underestimated crypto voter block emerged victorious in the US elections as crypto-supporting candidates in both Republican and Democratic parties mostly won.
This has set the stage for crypto regulatory clarity, stablecoin regulation, Operation Choke Point 2.0 end, and the conclusion of US SEC attacks against crypto including the Ripple vs SEC lawsuit.
“To everyone who doubted it: the crypto voter is here to stay, loud and clear!” said Ripple CEO. He congratulated crypto candidates Bernie Moreno, Ritchie Torres, Kirsten Gillibrand and Andy Barr on the win.
Crypto community including Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong noted that Bernie Moreno’s win kicked out crypto enemy number 2 in the Senate, Sherrod Brown, in Ohio.
@berniemoreno understands that crypto is an important part of America's future. Bernie and the crypto owners who helped him secure this win understand how everyone can benefit from crypto and are willing to fight for it. Welcome to America's most pro-crypto Congress ever…
— Brian Armstrong (@brian_armstrong) November 6, 2024
The emergence of crypto as a significant political issue influenced voting behavior in this US election. Ripple CEO noted that the victory of Bernie Moreno, Tim Sheehy, Ritchie Torres, Kirsten Gillibrand, and other pro-crypto candidates signaled a shift in political priorities.
However, the defeat of pro-XRP candidate John Deaton against Senator Elizabeth Warren was the only sad news for the crypto community.
How Will US Election Result Impact Ripple Vs SEC Lawsuit?
The re-election of Donald Trump and pro-crypto candidates will help fuel crypto and Bitcoin adoption. During the election campaigns, Donald Trump promised to fire SEC Chair Gary Gensler. The securities regulator without Gensler may soon end the Ripple vs SEC lawsuit and bring crypto regulatory clarity.
Coinbase CLO Paul Grewal hinted that the crypto win will help end legal attacks against crypto. He said, “I’m going to guess that at least a couple of Supreme Court Justices now feel free to make retirement plans.”
The bipartisan appeal of crypto policies as the crypto voter isn’t confined to one political party now. Republican Party is near to taking the majority in the US Congress, as per New York Times data.
Recently, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse shared good news that institutional interest in XRP products continues to rise while the US SEC loses credibility and reputation. This indicates that the XRP ETF launch is imminent.
In the latest development in the XRP lawsuit, the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals granted the US SEC an order to file its opening brief by January 15, 2025.
Meanwhile, XRP price climbed 4.24% in the last 24 hours, with the price now trading at $0.53. Top crypto experts predicted XRP price to hit $1.10, before a massive breakout to over $6 and beyond.
