DEAN Meme Coin Launched & It’s A Scam

Hollywood actor Dean Norris, who plays Hank Schrader in Breaking Bad, came to the crypto community’s attention after his X profile posted about his meme coin launch. According to the post, “I’ve decided to launch my own crypto coin named $Dean,” which seems real. However, days later, Norris revealed that his X was hacked and the token was a scam.

Recently, many popular celebrities have launched their meme-themed cryptocurrencies, some of which turned controversial, like the Hawk Tuan Girl.

Interestingly, US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump launched the TRUMP and MELANI meme coin, which quickly gained traction in the market. Now, the DEAN token’s launch demonstrates the rising scams using popular celebrities’ accounts. The crypto community first became suspicious of this launch, but a follow-up tweet from Norris brought more confidence. More importantly, the hacked account responded to follower’s comments and did many other things, leading to people trusting the events. This led to the Dean meme coin hitting a market cap as high as $8.43M on January 25.

Dean Norris’s January 26 X post came as a massive shock, where the Hollywood actor revealed the account hack. He reported that he’s not often active on X and doesn’t have a telegram, which is why he did not realize the hack until days later. In this period, the hackers advantaged from the situation, launching a token and promoting on the actor’s account.

I rarely use it, I didn’t know I was hacked until I started getting texts from friends saying its out there,’ making it another major crypto scam. With the revelation, the token crashed

DEAN Price Surged 600% After Launch But Crashed

Norris’s hacked account posted that he would not launch a cryptocurrency without a strong utility, and the people backing it before mentioning that the one who misses it will regret it later. This boosted investor confidence (before the scam revelation), resulting in a more than 600% surge since its launch.

The DEAN meme coin is now part of the Solana network, and the cryptocurrency platform Coingecko has included the token in its crypto list, gaining it greater visibility. Although Coingecko has delisted the token, the initial listing built its credibility, pumping its price. However, the token’s demand decreased moments after the revelation, leading to a massive crash.

According to Dexscreener, it currently trades at $0.000000254 with a massive decline, as its ATH was nearly $0.0068. Additionally, its market cap and trading volume have dropped to $57k and $431k, leaving many investors in loss.

As a result, the token moved from a trending Solana meme coin to a scam, leaving a lesson for investors to stay cautious in the crypto market.

Bottom Line

The DEAN meme coin has moved from bullish to a crypto scam, where the hackers had taken over Breaking Bad star Dean Norris account. The hackers smartly made followers believe in the credibility of the launch with constant posts and replies. As a result, the token surged over 600% after the launch. However, the token has consolidated significantly away from that, trading at $0.000000254 after Norris revealed the hack. This is the newest addition to the celebrity account hacks to promote cryptos, which is why investors should be careful before investing in any such new cryptos.
