US Secret Service To Hold Crypto AMA

Over the years, the United States has earned a notorious reputation for its treatment of the cryptocurrency market. As the US SEC and CFTC both continue their rampant crackdowns on crypto businesses operating in the country, the US Secret Service has taken a newer approach to dealing with it.

The Reddit post elaborated on the rationale for this decision, explaining that the U.S. Secret Service wants to interact with the cryptocurrency community and respond to any concerns or queries the community may have about digital asset regulation.

While highlighting today’s AMA on the Cryptocurrency Subreddit, the Secret Service was quoted as saying:

You probably know the Secret Service protects the leaders of the United States, but did you know we’re also responsible for safeguarding the nation’s financial infrastructure? In today’s world, that often involves the world of cryptocurrency.

“In the past 12 months, our team has investigated ‘Pig Butchering’ cryptocurrency thefts and we have recovered millions in stolen funds. We want to share resources and tips on how to protect potential victims from cryptocurrency scammers,” the Reddit announcement further noted.

Crypto’s First Experience With Secret Service

The legitimacy of the Secret Service subreddit account was validated by the community administrator. They assured the community members that they had confirmed it by having a private conversation. Moreover, during the Ask Me Anything session, they urged the 6.4 million community to conduct themselves in a manner that was respectful and courteous.

The account that is being used by the service, known as SF-USSS, has also posted a verification photo that claims to show an agent of the service standing at the San Francisco field office. This seminar is being organized in conjunction with the Regional Enforcement Allied Computer Team, which is responsible for coordinating the operations of state and federal law enforcement agencies in the fight against technological crime.
