Hinman Drew Consultation From ETH’s Vitalik
Many crucial documents linked to Hinman documents and speech including Ripple’s Rule 56.1 statement finally being made available for public view. The document revealed that the SEC took a consultation from Vitalik Buterin in the process leading to the controversial speech.
An extract from the document released states that, on May 31, 2018, opposition to the recommendation grew within the US SEC against including Ether with Bitcoin as examples of digital assets which are no longer a “security”.
However, on June 4, then SEC director, Hinman shared a draft of the speech with the commission division heads. The doc mentions that he stated that there is a call with Buterin later in that week in order to confirm the US SEC’s understanding of how the Ethereum Foundation operates. It added that this move would suggest that the draft did not reflect Hinman’s understanding of how Ether works. Read More XRP Lawsuit News Here…

It is important to note that the SEC’s Office of General Counsel (OGC) suggested deleting the draft’s language around ETH. The OGC was concerned about the difficulty it would have to face in taking a different position on Ether in the future.
