Cardano’s Glacier Drop Airdrop Ignites Hype: Over 670,000 Midnight Mentions In Just One Week

Highlights
- The Midnight Glacier airdrop has triggered a major buzz in Cardano's ecosystem.
- The completion of a snapshot will see ADA, XRP, BTC, and ETH holders share NIGHT tokens.
- ADA price has rallied on the back of the hype to recover previous losses.
Following the confirmation of a snapshot for the Midnight Glacier Drop, social media mentions of Cardano and Midnight have spiked in the last week. Pundits say the buzz from the incoming airdrop will trigger an upswing in Cardano’s network metrics.
Midnight Glacier Drop Triggers 200,000 Cardano Mentions
New data reveals that the buzz around the incoming Midnight Glacier drop has sent Cardano’s social media mentions to new highs. In the last seven days, over 200,000 X posts have mentioned Cardano, with the Glacier Drop having a similar effect on Midnight metrics.
Cardanians disclosed via X that over 670,000 posts have mentioned Midnight on the microblogging platform. The account notes that the recent metrics are signals that the Glacier Drop will be “a huge on-boarding event” for Cardano.
Midnight, a Cardano-backed privacy-focused project, is turning to the Glacier Drop to distribute all its NIGHT and DUST tokens. At the start of the week, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson revealed that the Midnight Glacier Drop snapshot was complete.
Holders of at least $100 worth of ADA, BTC, ETH, XRP, SOL, BNB, BAT, and AVAX are eligible to receive the NIGHT tokens. Ahead of the 60-day claim period, Cardano (ADA) and NIGHT mentions on X are through the roof.
ADA Holders Get The Largest Slice Of The Airdrop
While eight blockchains will participate in the airdrop, ADA holders will get the biggest share of NIGHT tokens. According to Midnight, 50% of all NIGHT tokens will go to ADA holders, while 20% will be split among BTC holders.
The statement notes that SOL, XRP, AVAX, BAT, and BNB holders will evenly split the remaining 30% of NIGHT tokens. Interestingly, these crypto holders, including XRP investors, are already angling to check for their eligibility status to receive NIGHT tokens.
Pundits say the airdrop will trigger a spike in Cardano network activity since users from other chains will have to create a Cardano wallet to receive NIGHT.
Even if users intend to sell or transfer the tokens, their interaction with the Cardano blockchain will still benefit the network’s metrics, potentially reversing its declining user engagement.
“All users from other chains will have to join the ecosystem, create a Cardano wallet, and claim their tokens,” read a Cardanians post. “Even if they plan to transfer or sell them, they’ll still be interacting with the Cardano blockchain.”
