- Community members have quizzed whether a major update might be on the horizon.
The Pi Network team has issued a reminder about a crucial step that users need to take as part of the mainnet migration requirement. This has led to speculations that the team might be planning something huge for community members.
Pi Network Drops Mainnet Reminder
In an X post, the Pi Core team addressed Pioneers who have not yet migrated to Mainnet, informing them to check step three of the Mainnet checklist to ensure they have completed two-factor authentication for their Pi Wallet.
The Pi Network team added that this move is an essential requirement for Mainnet migration. This reminder comes as some community members continue to face difficulty in transferring their tokens from the testnet to the mainnet.
Following the announcement from the Pi Core team, community members began to speculate about whether a major update may be on the horizon. In an X post, a popular community member, Woody Lightyear, questioned if there is a major update on the horizon. Another community member, Notorious, also declared that something big is about to happen and advised pioneers to prepare accordingly.
One of the major updates that the community has so far been looking forward to is a listing from one of the top crypto exchanges. CoinGape recently reported that the Pi Network’s new wallet update had included “Binance Connect” and “Binance P2P” support, hinting at potential listing.
Meanwhile, it is worth noting that US-regulated exchange Swapfone just officially listed Pi Coin. The token is now available on platforms like MEXC, OKX, Gate.io, LBank, alongside Swapfone.
Addressing Security Issues With The Pi Wallet
In an X post, popular Pi Network influencer Dr. Altcoin commented on concerns regarding compromised Pi wallets and stolen passphrases. He remarked that these concerns are valid and advised the Pi Core team to take them seriously by working toward a robust solution.
Dr. Altcoin proposed that the team implement a multi-factor authentication (MFA) for wallet access. He noted that accessing a Pi wallet using only a passphrase is risky and that if it is stolen, anyone can use it to access and drain the wallet in question. Therefore, the influencer advised that the team should introduce an additional layer of security.
He said that after Pi Network users enter the passphrase, the wallet’s system should prompt for a fingerprint or biometric verification. Dr. Altcoin asserted that this extra step would prevent unauthorized access even if the passphrase has been compromised.
The Pi coin price is up almost 2% in the last 24 hours, trading at around $0.44, according to CoinMarketCap data. The token is also up in the last seven days, although it is struggling to break the $0.5 level.
