The grant is not designed for a separate category of developers. It was clearly stated that both new and existing projects are eligible to participate. The only stipulated requirement is that all participating builders’ project must be open-source.
Solana Foundation has its focus on innovative, large-scale projects for Solana Actions and Blinks. As such, the projects of interest will be offered support based on four tracks. The first one is API Frameworks, which encompasses building Actions and APIs that simplify and standardize Action creation. Next is Non-web blinks clients and mobile builds involved in the implementations for platforms like Telegram, Discord, and Reddit, and novel mobile applications for blinks.
Safety and security infrastructure is the third track. These are important to prevent hacks and Solana Congestion as was a menace recently.

Projects will be assisted with the development of stricter transaction standards to reduce scam risks and building delegate wallet systems to improve security. Under this track also, automated security auditing tools will be provided for developers. The last track is Social proof and identity tools. Here, systems to show Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) from users who’ve interacted with Actions and blinks will be made available.
More Developers Grants in Crypto Ecosystem
The news about the Solana grant comes only a day after BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes unveiled Maelstrom’s first Bitcoin developer grant program. It is aimed at supporting the technical development of Bitcoin and enhancing its resilience, scalability, censorship resistance, and privacy characteristics. Currently, the fund is opened and already welcoming applications from devs, underlining August 25 as the deadline for final submissions.
This ‘Maelstrom Bitcoin Developer Program’ is bigger than the latest Solana grant, offering each developer between $50,000 to $150,000. Usually, such grants are made available to incentivize developers and revolutionize the creation of dApps, smart contracts, and blockchain protocols like in the case of Maelstrom.
