Highlights
- Grayscale Investments submitted its amended S-1 filing for the HYPE ETF.

- However, the firm mentioned that they'll only add staking rewards if it's regulatory compliant in the U.S.
Asset manager Grayscale Investments has amended its S-1 filing for the proposed Hyperliquid ETF. It now aims to offer staking yield to HYPE ETF holders if the product launches.
Grayscale Investments Amends HYPE ETF Filing
The revised Form S-1 was submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on May 11. It integrates fresh language that enables the trust to collect the staking rewards generated by HYPE tokens in the fund. The ETF will be listed on Nasdaq under the symbol “HYPG.”
The trust’s new investment goal focuses on supporting the value of HYPE. This includes “HYPE earned as Staking Consideration.” Here, the asset manager seems to mirror its approach with Ethereum ETFs as it now offers ETH staking yields to holders.
However, if it is not compliant with regulatory and tax requirements, then Grayscale wouldn’t add staking rewards. The firm noted that its structure should continue to qualify as a grantor trust to move ahead with the staking provision.
The filing also mentions it is intending to adopt the name “Grayscale Hyperliquid Staking ETF” for the trust. This would happen after the registration comes into effect.
Why Is Staking Added To HYPE ETF Filing?
For context, Hyperliquid is a decentralized perpetuals trading blockchain. The project has been gaining momentum over the past year within the crypto market. Its native token, “HYPE,” is one of the more closely followed altcoins.
Hence, Grayscale’s new proposed ETF would provide investors with exposure to HYPE without having to actually hold the token. Staking may also offer a premium yield to the fund since they can participate in the network.
Moreover, the firm has appointed Anchorage Digital Bank N.A. as the Custodian for the proposed trust. Meanwhile, Bank of New York Mellon will act as Administrator and Transfer Agent.
Furthermore, it is important to note that crypto ETF issuers are seeking staking provision in Ethereum and Solana ETFs as well. Since 2025, Grayscale, Bitwise, and BlackRock have rolled out Ethereum and Solana ETFs with staking yields.
For this, they stake ETH and SOL from their ETF reserves using crypto staking platforms. The rewards are then distributed among holders, according to the proposed allocations.
