In XRP news today, David Schwartz joined the XRP Ledger Foundation’s Honorary Board Members. It offers the group an opportunity to work with one of the most well-known names in the crypto world.

XRP News: Ripple CTO Emeritus Enters XRP Ledger Foundation

The foundation announced the appointment via its official X post and cited Schwartz’s years-long participation in the development of the XRP Ledger. “We’re honored to welcome David Schwartz (@JoelKatz) as an Honorary Board Member of the XRP Ledger Foundation.” the organization said.

The non-profit organization also spotlighted Schwartz’ technical expertise. They noted that his previous work with the blockchain network would benefit in providing better oversight and future development efforts.

“As one of the original architects of the XRP Ledger, David brings deep technical insight and a long-term perspective that will help strengthen the Foundation’s technical stewardship of the ecosystem,” the statement added.

In another recent XRP news, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse received an honorary award. He was awarded the the ‘Business Leader of the Year’ title by Harvard Business School.

However, a word of caution includes that he XRP Ledger Foundation is not affiliated with Ripple. Instead, it works to promote the decentralization of the network. It’s tasked with keeping the main repositories live, helping developers, and handling a publisher Unique Node List (UNL) for validators.

About Schwartz’s Past & Current Endeavours

For further context, Schwartz was heavily involved in the creation of the XRP Ledger with Arthur Britto and Jed McCaleb in 2011. The blockchain was created as a quicker, more energy-efficient option to Bitcoin.

Whilst, Schwartz is currently holding the CTO Emeritus position at Ripple, and has long been involved with the XRP Ledger ecosystem. Thus, he regularly interacts with developers and community members on social media about Validator operations, protocol design and proposed upgrades.

Nonetheless, despite the honorary position, he continues to face the heat as he dismissed predictions of XRP price hitting $10,000. In another XRP news, he rejected claims of any ‘secret plans’ that involve Ripple.
