  • Brad Garlinghouse, the CEO of Ripple hits back at Galaxy Digital CEO, Mike Novogratz over his comment on XRP.
  • “XRP has outperformed Bitcoin (BTC) since the start of the year,” Garlinghouse tweeted.

During the TD Ameritrade’s National LINC 2020 conference held in Orlando, Florida late last week, Mike Novogratz told a room full of financial advisors that XRP will perform poorly through 2020. The comments were not carried lightly by Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple, XRP’s custodian, and the XRP Army given the token has outperformed most of the top cryptocurrencies – Novogratz’s favorite coin, Bitcoin, being one of them.

““It did underperform immensely last year,” Mike told the audience. “I think it will underperform immensely again this year and it’s just because of the supply.”

In a tweet responding to a Coindesk article, Brad starts off by stat checking the truth in XRP’s performance so far in 2020 critiquing the publication.

“Ahem… IS THIS THING ON… can I get a fact check on aisle CoinDesk?”

Looking at the numbers registered, XRP has performed rather well through 2020 as the price soared from key support levels at $0.1970 USD to over $0.2700 USD since the start of year, representing a 44% spike in that period. Contrasting the growth, XRP has outperformed Bitcoin year-to-date with the top coin only gaining a fraction of XRP’s growth, registering 33% growth since the start of January.

The war between Bitcoin bulls and the XRP Army is not set to die out anytime soon with each camp believing their digital asset will be adopted globally before the other. Despite Mike wrongly predicting the price of BTC will go to $20,000 USD in 2019, the price did shoot up from $3,700 at the start of 2019 to end the year above $7,000 USD.

On the other hand, XRP has struggled to reach break through its two year downtrend, currently trading at $0.27400 USD, as fears of Ripple Inc. dumping on the market are always increasing.

Where do you think BTC and XRP will end 2020 at?
