With Pornhub as its partner, Verge is gaining access to about millions of its user base. This partnership would help in making Verge coin mainstream and being a privacy coin with a real-world usage and a wider adoption.
Privacy-focused Verge coin gets access to million of Pornhub users
The crypto community seems to be on a fence regarding Verge’s new partnership with Pornhub. While some believe it to be a good thing for the Verge, others think it doesn’t hold much of a value. However, with Pornub’s huge user base, this partnership would aid in the wider adoption and acceptance of Verge cryptocurrency.
When Verge initially announced its fundraising project where it asked its supporters for XVG donation to support the development of a partnership, people were skeptical of their intentions. The fundraising raised over 76.2 million XVG or about $6.4 million USD to reveal the name of the partner but didn’t provide any information on how this capital will be used.
The fundraising event and continuous inconsistencies in ledger details among other previous issues like delay in Wraith protocol release and allegation of being paid pumped hit the Verge.
But now, Verge has secured a deal with the parent company, MindGeek which is a multi-billion dollar company with over 115 million daily visitors. Pornhub is now accepting payments in XVG for its premium content. Apparently, Pornhub went with Verge cryptocurrency because about 6,000 votes asked for Verge.
With Verge, Pornhub aims to provide its users anonymity, as their statements goes:
“Verge is a secure and anonymous cryptocurrency, which is very near and dear to us here at Pornhub. [Verge] provides that extra layer of security many people look for, particularly in the adult entertainment industry.”
The privacy coin Verge’s anonymity feature is through its open source project that uses Tor and I2P. Tor basically hides your IP address by encrypting your traffic and bouncing it worldwide on a series of computers while I2P offers the same peer-to-peer routing which differs in practice.
Real world usage and wide adoption of a cryptocurrency
Last year, the popular adult entertainment channel, Porhub implemented HTTP encryption to make the process safe for its users. It’s not all, Pornhub also introduced a number of accessibility features for its visually impaired and blind users last fall.
Pornhub accepting Verge coin is a big deal as it is the 32nd biggest site on the web with a huge customer base that seek online anonymity more than anyone which can create a drastic impact as put by Verge founder, Justin Sunerok:
“Pornhub is a global organization with nearly a hundred million daily users. This partnership represents an enormous market with a global reach that will compete with fiat currencies. It’s huge for Verge and we’re extremely excited to finally be able to announce it.”
The integral point here is the use of a privacy coin in a real-world scenario which hasn’t ever been on such a large scale. With millions of customer base, cryptocurrency, in general, can emerge as a real competitor in the financial space.
“History has proven that the adult entertainment industry plays a critical role in adoption for innovative technology. We saw that with VHS, Beta Max, credit card payment icons and, most recently, VR goggles. We expect to see widespread adoption of crypto and blockchain in short order.”
Porn industry is not the only one that values anonymity, industries like Cannabis are also interested in this feature. Now, after Pornhub, Verge coin will soon be recognized and adopted in other sectors that will put it on an upward curve.
Do you think Verge coin will be the next big coin of the crypto market?
