The launch of the TON Verifier represents a significant milestone in increasing TON chain’s transparency. Due to the open-source nature of the application, any users who contribute code to The Open Network (TON) can publish their code once it has been verified.

Explaining the TON Verifier

Understanding smart contracts and their functionalities can be complex and require some technical knowledge. Even with the required knowledge, it can be tough to match the code with what is intended to happen on the blockchain network. To get around this process and its complexities, Orbs has launched the TON Verifier. The TON Verifier enables users and developers to verify a smart contract’s code using the on-chain byte code to avoid any mistakes.

Perhaps the most important aspect of the introduction of the TON Verifier is that it does not introduce more centralization or third-party control. With this solution, users can spin up their own instance of the code, ensuring there is no outside interference. This results in transparency without compromises. As the code runs locally, anyone can run it themselves even if the centralized backend offering access to the TON Verifier experiences a shutdown.

How can one use the TON Verifier?

The TON Verifier is very straightforward to use. Developers are required to type in the TON chain contract address, upload FunC source files and specify compiler settings.  The app gets to work on verifying the source and compiling it, returning a signed BoC to be sent to both the verifier and sources registry.

The TON Verifier provides suggestions to achieve the correct hash for the code in case of failed compilations. It immediately tells the user whether the on-chain version and the contract code match or not.

Users must remember that the process of verifying a smart contract’s code is just one of the steps in the whole due diligence process. They should still analyse every function in the code to check nothing is nefarious even if everything checks out.

The Expanding TON Ecosystem

The success of the TON network depends on a sufficient amount of projects and services to be built on top of it. To rectify this, Orbs introduced Minter, which is a solution for deploying alt-tokens or Jettons on the TON chain. It has already been used by several thousand developers, with more than 500 tokens being minted so far.
