The wait is almost over! The FIFA World Cup 2026 final will be a blockbuster between Spain and Argentina, marking the end of an over a month long tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The two titans will face off Sunday, July 19, in New York New Jersey Stadium for a world title in New Jersey.

The action on the pitch is just one story in the final. FIFA is also grabbing huge attention for blockchain ticketing, legal challenges to ticket sales and billions of dollars in ticket wagers through prediction markets.

FIFA World Cup 2026 Final: Date, Time, Schedule, How To Watch

The final match of the tournament will see Spain and Argentina go head-to-head. The kick-off will be at 3:00 PM (New York), 9:00 PM (Madrid) and 4:00 PM (Buenos Aires).

If you’re viewing from the United States, FIFA’s official match schedule indicates that the game is covered on FOX, FOX One, Telemundo, Universo, Peacock and TeleXitos. The match will also be listed in local time on FIFA’s website, though some may be at 00:30 on Monday, July 20 based on their time zone.

After another picture-postcard display, Spain have snared their path into the final. Argentina, the reigning World champions, still depend on the experience of Lionel Messi after storming through to the knockout stages after winning both of their games.

FIFA dubbed the duel “the reigning world and South American champions” and “the kings of Europe.”

FIFA Faces Massive Legal Battle For Blockchain Ticketing

As fans await the final, FIFA’s ticketing system is being heavily criticized. Those who bought tickets for the class-action lawsuit say they were charged more than they were told they would be, and that the seats they got were not the same as the seats they signed up for.

For context, attorneys general in New York, New Jersey, California and Texas are also looking into FIFA’s ticket pricing. Authorities are supposedly looking at allegations of a substantial increase in ticket prices via phased releases.

StubHub is the next company on the list of another lawsuit. The complaint claims that some of the buyers were not issued any ticket for the tickets they bought and also wants damages of at least $5 million.

Meanwhile, FIFA is taking its blockchain approach to the next level with FIFA Collect, operating on the Avalanche blockchain. The platform has already released over 100K Right-to-Buy (RTB) and Right-to-Ticket (RTT) tokens.

The blockchain-based assets are intended to demonstrate the ownership of the ticket, to minimize fraud and to increase transparency in the transfer process. Trading volume in the secondary market has surpassed $25 million already.

Meanwhile, Barcelona’s TV broadcast will also be available for paying visitors to the FIFA World Cup official press conference. The event is normally meant for accredited journalists and fans will have to pay admission to attend at July 17 at New York City’s Javits Center.

Prediction Markets Activity Is Cooling As the Final Nears

Prediction markets have been one of the largest sporting events this year is the FIFA World Cup. As the tournament moves towards the end, though, some trading activity has started to ease off.

According to Prediction Frontier’s Research Director Edwin Munyui, “Prediction markets have spent much of the World Cup breaking trading-volume records.” He added that the latest figures offer “the first indication of what could happen as the tournament winds down.”

During the recent quarterfinal round, Polymarket’s FIFA World Cup Winner market has seen seven-day trading volume come in at $165.6 million. This represents a decrease from the last week where it was trading $204.6 million, according to Prediction Frontier. The depth of the order book fell by 45.5% to $29.4 million and the open interest fell 8.5% to $61.5 million.
