BTSE Launches Regulated Crypto Trading Platform in Indonesia
Highlights
- BTSE Group has entered Indonesia's regulated crypto market via a joint venture with PT Aset Kripto Internasional, rebranding as BTSE Indonesia under an OJK-issued PAKD license.
- The platform will offer IDR trading pairs, local bank integrations, and crypto futures trading once new regulations are issued by Indonesian authorities.
- Indonesia's OJK also mandated in June 2026 that social media influencers promoting crypto must obtain competency certification, adding compliance pressure across the sector.
BTSE has officially entered into the regulated cryptocurrency sector in Indonesia with the rebranding and launch of BTSE Indonesia, following NVX’s successful rebranding from its previous name. After NVX successfully rebranded their local exchange, BTSE has now officially entered the Indonesian regulated cryptocurrency market by rebranding as BTSE Indonesia.
Joint Venture Strengthens BTSE Expansion Across Indonesia
According to an official announcement released on July 3, BTSE Indonesia has been established as a joint venture between BTSE Group and PT Aset Kripto Internasional. The collaboration between the two will be based on BTSE’s world-class trading platform and the local focus on customer acquisition, partnerships, marketing, and sales.

BTSE Indonesia will be trading as a Digital Financial Assets and Crypto Assets Trading Operator (PAKD) under a license granted by Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority (OJK).
With the regulatory approval, BTSE Indonesia is now part of a few limited licensed crypto exchanges that are approved to provide digital asset trading services in Indonesia. The platform must also meet the anti-money laundering (AML) laws and regulations of the country, as well as customer asset protection laws.
Once the license is obtained, BTSE Indonesia will be able to share more Indonesian rupiah (IDR) trading pairs, currency conversion, withdrawal and deposit options with IDR with Indonesian banks and payment providers.
The company also said that the approval opens the door to the introduction of other regulated products, such as crypto futures trading, as long as the authorities in Indonesia issue new crypto regulations.
Indonesia Strengthens Oversight of Digital Asset Promotions
Under the joint venture, BTSE Group will supply the trading engine, liquidity, and technology infrastructure of the exchange, while PT Aset Kripto Internasional will handle local commercial operations, based on its knowledge of the local market and business network of Indonesia.
Indonesia has the potential to be one of the biggest cryptocurrency markets in Asia, according to Chief Operating Officer (CEO) of BTSE Group Jeff Mei.
The population, the demand, the regulation, and everything else it takes are what Indonesia has; it now needs the right mix of global infrastructure and the expertise of Indonesian locals. That’s what this joint venture provides, said Mei.
Stephanie Kusnadi, Chief Strategy Officer of BTSE Indonesia, said that BTSE’s integration will enable the company to leverage global exchange technology while maintaining its operations within Indonesia’s regulatory regime and local user needs.
The launch is part of Indonesia’s ongoing efforts to tighten the regulations on its digital asset sector. In June, the OJK released the Financial Services Authority Regulation No. 6 of 2026, mandating that social media influencers who promote crypto and other digital financial assets get competency certification if they don’t have a valid financial services authorization.
The new requirements create additional compliance burdens for cryptocurrency businesses in the regulated digital asset market in Indonesia.
