OpenAI Apple Deal: AI Makes Way Into iOS & macOS, Optimism Builds Ahead Of WWDC24

Published by

In an unprecedented mover that sparked a frenzy, Apple, the global tech giant, appears to have struck a deal with Sam Altman’s OpenAI, a pioneer in the AI industry. Specific details regarding AI integration into one of the world’s pioneers in technology loom as the WWDC24 (Worldwide Developers Conference) approaches. Meanwhile, talks over Apple’s collaborative efforts with other AI pioneers also prevail in the industry.

Users across the globe much-anticipated Apple’s decision to amalgamate AI features, as the firm lagged in tapping into the emerging tech while rivals like Microsoft entered and took the arena. Nonetheless, the tech giant has now unveiled its strategy to incorporate AI features into its iOS 18 and macOS 15 operating systems, promising a future of enhanced user experiences and advanced technological capabilities.

Apple Leverages AI To Cement Global Foothold

While Apple’s previous negligence toward AI sparked a global buzz surrounding the company’s plans to tap into the technology, recent reports spotlighted that the firm remains poised to reveal a plethora of AI-related features at the looming WWDC, June 10 – June 14, 2024. Bloomberg correspondent Mark Gurman said Project Greymatter, a set of AI tools that the company will integrate into core apps like Safari, Photos, and Notes, lies at the core of the event.

Meanwhile, these features will be integrated into iOS18 models and macOS15 models, per the Bloomberg correspondent. Simultaneously, the operations will be handled via a two-structured process, wherein the software decides whether tasks will be performed on the device or the cloud.

A detailed structure will probably be ruled out at the upcoming WWDC event. It’s worth noting that talks of Apple integrating AI into its models this year have already surfaced in markets.

Is A Partnership Concrete?

Concurrently, the industry is abuzz with numerous reports of Apple’s plans to leverage Google’s AI services as well. Although an official statement is much-awaited, these talks have taken the AI industry by storm.

A potential collaborative effort with Google may not come as a surprise, given OpenAI’s recent scrutiny due to the misuse of its technology across various sectors. Nonetheless, numerous reports across the globe proclaim a partnership between OpenAI and Apple is in the pipeline.

It’s also worth mentioning that Apple Inc. AAPL stock price traded at $190.47 today, up +0.09% per pre-market data. If plans to integrate AI go successfully, the firm could see a significant rise in value.

Also, OpenAI remains poised to benefit substantially from its partnership with Apple, although more details are much-awaited.
