In today’s big XRP news, Ripple has voted in favor of the amendment in the XRP Ledger (XRPL) upgrade. The XRPL upgrade is also witnessing swift responses from validators to update nodes to the latest release that advances network cleanup, security, and developer experience.
XRP News: XRPL Ledger Upgrade Amendment Receives Support from Ripple
Ripple has voted in support of the fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment in the XRP Ledger (XRPL) 3.2.0 upgrade. The amendment is open for voting on the XRPL mainnet, showing 2.86% consensus from validators.
The amendment bundles bug fixes and improvements for Single Asset Vaults, the Lending Protocol, permissioned DEX, Multi-Purpose Tokens (MPTs), and permissioned domains.
It also retires numerous amendments activated over two years, streamlining the XRP Ledger for tokenization, DeFi and other use cases.
As of the latest data, 26% of nodes have updated to the latest 3.2.0 release. However, 65% remain on 3.1.3, while others still remain on previous versions. The node adoption is advancing, with several prominent ones such as Ripple having already updated with the XRP Ledger 3.2.0.
Full activation requires sustained 80% support from the default Unique Node List (dUNL) validators over two weeks. Validators and operators are required to upgrade before full activation and avoid becoming amendment-blocked.

Major Changes in XRPL 3.2.0
As CoinGape reported earlier, XRP Ledger released the v3.2.0 upgrade that introduces the new fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment. The major visible change in this release is renaming of the core server from rippled to xrpld.
XRP Ledger Operations emphasized steps for updating to v3.2.0. It asked validators to back up critical files first and remove the old rippled package to avoid data loss.
The upgrade is also set to reduce the memory footprint by up to 40% and operating costs for nodes amid the scalability boost for tokenization and payments.
Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz highlighted the XRP Ledger network’s stability ahead of the key v3.2.0 upgrade. He also shared stability metrics ahead of the mainnet upgrade to boost confidence among tradFi and partners.
Meanwhile, some XRP community members expressed concerns over drop in network activity by almost 50% in the past two weeks. Analyst Ali Martinez noted that active addresses declined from 50,000 to around 25,000. However, experts claimed a drop in network activity is normal amid back-to-back XRP Ledger upgrades such as XRPL v3.1.3 upgrade weeks ago.
