Our research found that Gemini is the best overall Zcash (ZEC) exchange in 2026 with a score of 7.7 out of 10. It’s followed closely by Kraken and Binance at 7.3 and 7.1, respectively.

Beyond these scores, the wider ZEC exchange map is volatile, with a history of delistings and relistings, the EU’s planned 2027 privacy-coin ban, and only a small number of exchanges currently supporting shielded withdrawals.

In this guide, we compare the top ZEC exchanges, their trading pairs, shielded support, fees, security, availability, and track record.

Zcash Exchanges Compared: Listings, Shielded Support and Delisting Status (August 2026)

Not all Zcash exchanges treat ZEC the same way. Some support both transparent and shielded addresses, others restrict withdrawals to transparent addresses only, and a growing number have delisted ZEC under regulatory pressure.

The table below reflects only verified exchanges with up-to-date information, current as of August 31, 2026.

Best Zcash Exchanges - Detailed reviews

GhostSwap

GhostSwap

GhostSwap’s main appeal is the ability to swap ZEC directly into BTC, ETH, SOL, USDC, XMR, and more without creating an account or doing KYC. The drawback is the lack of regulatory and counterparty transparency. Its third-party processing partners are not disclosed, and GhostSwap reserves the right to block or refund transactions that trigger its partners’ AML checks.

Spec Value
Deposit methods Crypto only
Gemini-Credit-Card

Gemini

Gemini supports shielded withdrawals, Unified Addresses, and Orchard, while continuing to accept ZEC deposits through transparent addresses. The catch is regulatory geography. ZEC trading is currently unavailable to customers in the UK, EU/EEA, and Singapore.

Kraken

Kraken

Kraken supports ZEC spot trading, margin, and derivatives. Its Zcash page, as of August 31, 2026, reports a 24h volume of $1.16 billion. The drawback is that Kraken does not support shielded Zcash withdrawals. It explicitly rejects zs or zc addresses, so users cannot withdraw ZEC directly from Kraken to a shielded address.

binance-logo

Binance

In January 2024, Binance applied its Monitoring Tag to ZEC, warning that monitored assets could be delisted. It later removed the tag on July 9, 2025. Binance also briefly planned to restrict ZEC trading for customers in France, Italy, Poland, and Spain in 2023 before reversing that decision. Separately, Binance.com remains unavailable to U.S. customers. Instead, the separate Binance.US entity offers ZEC/USD spot trading.

OKX

OKX

OKX’s ZEC offering depends on where you reside. U.S. users get ZEC/USD and ZEC/USDT spot trading, while eligible EU users have access to ZEC/USD and ZEC/EUR spot trading, as well as ZECUSD UM perpetual.

MEXC-logo

MEXC

MEXC’s main drawback is that it explicitly prohibits users from the United States and the United Kingdom, while users in the EU/EEA face additional regulatory uncertainty. That said, MEXC offers a fairly broad ZEC market setup. It currently supports three spot markets: ZEC/USDT, ZEC/USDC, and ZEC/USD1, as well as three perpetual futures: ZECUSDT, ZECUSDC, and ZECUSD1.

Spec Value
Deposit methods Credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, bank transfers, P2P, and stablecoin/crypto deposits
KuCoin

KuCoin

In September 2025, KuCoin delisted ZEC. The coin has since re-emerged as an active market on the exchange. However, KuCoin’s U.S. exposure is a significant limitation: in January 2025, it pleaded guilty to operating an unlicensed money-transmitting business and agreed to pay over $297 million in penalties and to leave the U.S. market for at least two years.

Crypto.com

Crypto.com gives users access to ZEC through its Onchain ecosystem rather than a conventional spot order book. Its ZEC page lists multiple fiat conversion routes and directs users to Onchain for swapping, but the exchange itself does not show ZEC among its spot markets. This is limiting for traders who want to enter and exit ZEC positions more precisely.

Spec Value
Deposit methods SWIFT, Fedwire, SEPA, ACH, and crypto deposits
coinbase-logo

Coinbase

You can buy Zcash on Coinbase’s centralized exchange in the U.S., via ACH, debit card, and many other payment methods. Coinbase also accepts ZEC deposits from both transparent and shielded addresses. However, withdrawals are limited to transparent addresses; withdrawals to shielded addresses are not supported.

BYBIT

Bybit

Bybit currently offers ZEC primarily through its ZEC/USDT perpetual contract. The exchange’s ZEC conversion pages still advertise “Trade ZEC/USDT on Spot,” but it doesn’t appear in the Spot Directory or live trading interface. That makes Bybit more of a derivatives market at present, limiting options for ZEC traders who want conventional spot exposure

Deposit methods Onchain crypto deposit, SEPA, FPS, Visa and Mastercard

Shielded vs Transparent ZEC on Exchanges

Transparent ZEC works like Bitcoin. You can view the wallet addresses, transaction amounts, and details on the blockchain. On the other hand, Shielded ZEC encrypts the transaction details so the sender, receiver, and amount are not publicly visible on the blockchain.

When an exchange says it supports ZEC, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it supports shielded ZEC. For instance, Gemini exchange supports shielded ZEC withdrawals and deposits, while Coinbase supports only shielded deposits.

Ironwood Upgrade: Exchange Status After the July 2026 Fork

In June 2026, security researcher Taylor Hornby discovered a flaw in Zcash’s Orchard pool that could allow counterfeit ZEC to be created without detection. The vulnerability was fixed through an emergency network upgrade led by the Zcash Open Development Lab (ZODL), and the Ironwood (NU6.3) upgrade was activated on July 28, 2026.

The new pathway is essentially: existing ZEC → Ironwood pool → shielded transactions. This adds stronger checks on the movement of value out of the old Orchard pool.

The EU's 2027 Privacy-Coin Ban and ZEC

As part of efforts to prevent financial systems from being used for money laundering or terrorist financing, the European Parliament and Council adopted Regulation (EU) 2024/1624, the EU’s new Anti-Money Laundering Regulation. In Article 79(1)(b), the regulation “prohibits crypto-asset service providers from maintaining anonymous crypto-asset accounts that allow the anonymization or increased obfuscation of transactions, including through “anonymity-enhancing coins.”

Zcash falls into this category, alongside Monero (XMR) and Dash (DASH). Given that its shielded transactions hide the sender, recipient, and amount, it creates a compliance problem for exchanges offering ZEC to EU customers.

As such, starting July 10, 2027 (315 days from the date of this article), exchanges with an EU-authorised entity serving European customers may restrict shielded transactions, change how ZEC is handled, or remove ZEC altogether.

The table below shows each exchange’s EU exposure:

Swap Services and No-KYC Routes for ZEC

Instant-swap services like GhostSwap, ChangeNOW, and StealthEX offer a non-custodial way to exchange ZEC without requiring a standard exchange account or KYC for the swap.

This model also extends to non-custodial wallets. In December 2025, Edge Wallet announced an integration with Maya Protocol, allowing users to swap ZEC while keeping control of their funds and preserving the privacy that Zcash is designed to provide.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What's the best Zcash exchange?

Gemini is our top-rated Zcash exchange, standing out for its shielded deposits and withdrawals, unified-address support, and multiple ZEC spot pairs. It also has a clean recent track record and is available to U.S. residents.

2. Can I buy Zcash on Coinbase?

Yes. U.S. customers can buy Zcash (ZEC) on Coinbase using a bank account, debit card, wire transfer, or PayPal. Credit cards are not accepted, per Coinbase’s own page as of August 31, 2026.

3. Which exchanges support shielded Zcash withdrawals?

Gemini is the only exchange in our verified list with documented shielded ZEC withdrawals. It introduced shielded withdrawals in 2020 and added unified-address support in 2025. Other exchanges are transparent-only Zcash withdrawals.

4. Is Zcash delisted?

Not from the major U.S. exchanges we reviewed, as of August 31, 2026. OKX delisted in January 2024, then relisted in November 2025. The bigger issue is the EU Anti-Money Laundering Regulation; exchanges may restrict shielded transactions or remove ZEC altogether by July 2027.

5. Can I buy ZEC with a debit card without KYC?

Debit-card purchases require identity verification on most of the exchanges we have reviewed. If you want to avoid that, use no-KYC crypto exchanges and instant-swap services such as GhostSwap, ChangeNOW, and StealthEX.

6. What is the difference between shielded and transparent Zcash?

Transparent ZEC works like Bitcoin. Wallet addresses and transaction amounts are visible on the blockchain. Shielded ZEC encrypts the sender, receiver, and amount. See the “Shielded Support” column in the table above for which exchanges support shielded ZEC transactions.

7. How much are the fees to buy Zcash?

You can buy Zcash with 0% spot trading fees on MEXC and up to 1.2% on Coinbase and Kraken, based on rates verified as of August 31, 2026. Keep in mind that instant-buy and card purchases can cost more than standard spot orders.
