MSTR Stock Outlook as Strategy CEO Questions MSCI’s Anti-Bitcoin Stance Ahead of November Rebalancing
Highlights
- MSTR stock price is rising alongside risk assets after softer US inflation.
- The gains despite growing speculation that MSTR stock could be removed from the MSCI index in November.
- Strategy's CEO has questioned the MSCI's decision, accusing the benchmark of having an anti-Bitcoin stance.
Strategy (NASDAQ: MSTR) stock price is up 3% today, October 1, to trade at $157 at the time of writing. The gains follow a recovery across US stocks after softer US inflation data trimmed the odds that the Federal Reserve will hike interest rates at this month’s Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting.
MSTR stock is also gaining attention as criticism towards the MSCI index grows amid speculation that Bitcoin treasuries could be dropped from the benchmark during the November rebalancing decision.
Strategy’s Phong Le Questions MSCI’s Anti-Bitcoin Take
In an X post, Strategy’s CEO, Phong Le, noted that despite the MSCI informing the SEC that it does not express an opinion on whether a market or investment is bad, its recent efforts suggest that it holds the view that “Bitcoin is bad.”
Le was responding to a report by the Bitcoin Policy Institute questioning why the MSCI has proposed a classification change that would potentially exclude digital asset treasury companies such as MSTR stock from the index.
In the report, BPI noted that MSCI has previously warned about crypto exposure in equities, and the CEO, Henry Fernandez, has also pushed for the benchmark to become “green”, a feat that could exclude Bitcoin exposure because of energy-intensive BTC mining.
The CEO of Strive, Matt Cole, also added that MSCI’s documented hostility towards BTC was “a serious concern.” Strive is currently outshining Strategy in purchasing Bitcoin, as earlier reported by CoinGape.
MSCI will announce its rebalancing decision on November 11, with MSTR stock and ASST being among the shares that are speculated to be under review.
STRC Stock Inches Closer to Par
The STRC stock by Strategy traded at $99.40 at the time of writing, with the preferred stock now being only 0.6% shy of its par value of $100.
STRC’s move towards $100 comes after Strategy proposed paying daily dividends to those holding the preferred stock. The voting by shareholders will take place on October 28.
Strategy’s executive chairman Michael Saylor has also championed the growth of the Bitcoin credit market, as earlier reported by CoinGape. Per Saylor, MSTR stock and ASST stock were both digital equities that could both attract investors that allocate funds to traditional stocks.
MSTR Stock Price Rejected at 200W EMA
MSTR stock gains halted after the price reached the 200-week EMA of $167 last week. The shares need to close above this obstacle to confirm a strong upward trend for the crypto stock.
If Strategy shares can close above this 200-week EMA, the price could move towards $200, especially if the broader crypto market begins to rally in “Uptober.”
The ADX line that is slightly tipping north suggests that the uptrend that began in mid-August 2026 is gaining strength.

However, if the selling pressure increases, MSTR stock price might move lower to test the support at $119.
