Highlights

  • Bitcoin's macro case is only getting stronger, says BlackRock’s digital assets head Robert Mitchnick.
  • Rising concern over U.S. debt and fiscal deficits to benefit Bitcoin and gold, with CLARITY Act at backseat.
  • Glassnode predicts only one band of supply resist BTC price break above $81K towards $86K.

BlackRock’s digital assets head Robert Mitchnick claims Bitcoin’s macro case is only getting stronger. He asserted fiscal concerns, not regulation, now drive Bitcoin demand. The firm currently holds 771,641 BTC worth almost $61 billion, supporting BTC price momentum.

Bitcoin Investment Case Is Strengthening amid Fiscal Concerns: BlackRock

BlackRock’s head of digital assets, Robert Mitchnick, said Bitcoin’s macro case is strengthening amid U.S. fiscal concerns, even as crypto regulations take a back seat.

Mitchnick argued that rising concern over U.S. debt and deficits is pushing investors toward alternative stores of value such as Bitcoin and gold. “Debt and deficit levels are a major concern for markets,” he said, adding that these risks benefit both assets.

The comments came after total US national debt crossed $40 trillion. Mitchnick earlier made a similar argument, highlighting that fear over borrowing levels and money-printing is BTC’s most important fundamental driver ahead.

While the CLARITY Act is stalled in the US Senate, BlackRock digital asset head said it matters less for BTC than for the rest of the crypto industry. It reasoned that Bitcoin already has broader regulatory clarity and adoption.

Robert Mitchnick separately told Bloomberg that IBIT “is going to keep growing because we keep expanding the access.” He also said custody incidents and physical-security risks have pushed some holders toward ETFs rather than self-custody.

BTC Price Holds Strong amid ETF inflows

BTC price is rising amid strong inflows into spot Bitcoin ETFs. BlackRock Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) leads the inflows amid renewed demand. As CoinGape reported, Bitcoin-to-ETF swaps in BlackRock ETF reached $5 billion.

Spot Bitcoin ETFs saw $232.2 million in inflows on Wednesday, continuing the inflow streak this August. IBIT led with $200.8 million in inflows, with Fidelity’s FBTC, Bitwise’s BITB, and Morgan Stanley’s MSBT also recording inflows.

Also, Bernstein predicted a massive rally in BTC price amid rising government debt and currency debasement. Analysts see BTC price could hit $300K by 2029 and $1 million by 2033.

BTC price currently trades near $78,800, with a 24-hour low and high of $77,648 and $79,171. “What stands between this recovery and the January high is one band of supply between $81K and $86K,” said Glassnode.

BTC price rallied 26% from its mid-August low on a record short flush after the US Treasury announced it would double its long-term debt buybacks.

Polymarket data shows prediction market participants expect Bitcoin price to reach $85,000 by December, with 67% Yes bets.
