UNI Price Prediction as Uniswap Labs Partners With Japan’s Third-Largest Securities Broker for DeFi Access
Highlights
- Uniswap price is rising today alongside the broader crypto market.
- SMBC Nikko Securities plans to launch compliant liquidity pools on Uniswap.
- Uniswap's open interest remains elevated despite the recent rally cooling off.
Uniswap (UNI) price is up slightly by 0.65% today, October 2, to trade at $9.11 at the time of writing. The slight gains mirror the recovery across the broader crypto market as Bitcoin (BTC) reclaims $86,000.
Uniswap gains also come as SMBC Nikko Securities partners with multiple crypto firms, including Uniswap Labs, to create a DeFi Gateway that targets the Japanese market.
SMBC to Launch a DeFi Gateway With Uniswap Labs
SMBC Nikko Securities ranks as the third-largest brokerage firm in Japan, and it has now signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Uniswap Labs, Base, and Nyx Foundation to offer access to DeFi services.
The initiative will use Uniswap v4 Hooks to create a liquidity pool framework that is compliant with anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CFT) laws.
The firms plan to launch the DeFi platform by mid-2027, with each progress made towards launch set to be shared with various regulatory bodies in Japan.
The launch comes barely four months after Standard Chartered forecast that the liquidity pools on Uniswap could have 37 times more assets by 2030. As CoinGape reported, the bank forecasts that UNI price could surge 40 times in the next four years.
Open Interest Remains Elevated After 53% Rally
Data from CoinGlass shows that Uniswap’s open interest increased from $491 million in mid-September to more than $900 million by the end of September.
While the OI has dropped slightly from the September high of $971 million, it remained elevated at $915 million at the time of writing.

The high open interest suggests that the traders who opened futures positions on UNI price in September as the price soared have yet to close their positions.
The weighted funding rate also remains positive, suggesting that long-buyers are paying more to keep their positions open as doubts grow that the Fed will hike interest rates during the October Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting.
Still, the long/short reading in Binance has dropped from 1.86 on September 25 to 1.57 at the time of writing, suggesting that some long traders are closing their positions.
UNI Price Rally Loses Steam but 20D EMA Support Holds
The Uniswap gains that occurred in September are cooling down, with UNI price now consolidating within a symmetrical triangle pattern.
The ADX reading above 50 suggests that Uniswap remains in an uptrend. However, the ADX line that is tipping south signals a bearish future Uniswap outlook because it shows that the uptrend is becoming weak.
If UNI closes below the support at the lower trendline of the symmetrical triangle, the price could drop to test the support at the 20-day EMA of $8.48.

However, if the uptrend resumes and UNI closes above the resistance at the 78.7% Fib of $9.26, it could kickstart another bullish leg towards $10.
