Uniswap Price Prediction as Open Interest Hits 6-Year High Ahead of October 19 CME Futures Launch
Highlights
- Uniswap price is up by 20% today amid a surge in buying pressure.
- The gains have pushed Uniswap's open interest to the highest level in six years.
- UNI price could surge to $17 if the buy-side pressure remains strong ahead of the CME listing on October 19.
Uniswap (UNI) price is up by 19% today, September 23, to trade at $10.44 at the time of writing, making it the second-biggest gainer among the top 20 biggest cryptos after Bitcoin Cash (BCH).
UNI is now up by 66% within seven days as the bullish momentum across the broader crypto market and the upcoming addition of UNI to the CME boost sentiment.
Uniswap’s Open Interest Soars Ahead of CME Futures Launch
Uniswap will be added to the CME futures exchange on October 19, making it the first DEX token to be added to the CME. UNI will be added to the exchange alongside Bitcoin Cash.
The launch could boost institutional access to Uniswap, allowing funds to get exposure to UNI on a regulated platform like the CME. High institutional access also means that liquidity could improve.
The upcoming launch has pushed Uniswap’s open interest to $1.01 billion, per data from CoinGlass. This is the highest OI reading for UNI since September 2020.

UNI’s open interest on Binance also increased from $251 million to $343 million.
The rising OI suggests the demand for UNI by futures traders is rising as they open positions betting on the future Uniswap price outlook.
Uniswap’s weighted funding rate also briefly reached a ten-month high of 0.023% on September 22, amid an increase in the number of long positions. The funding rate has since dropped to 0.0096% but still shows bullish positioning as geopolitical tensions ease.
Hyperliquid Whales Ramp Up Short Bets After 66% Rally
Data from the Hyperliquid whale tracker on CoinGlass shows that large addresses are opening new positions betting on a decline in the price of UNI.
Out of the six biggest positions opened on HYPE on the platform, four of them are short positions, while only two are long positions.
Short positions have totaled $4.5 million, and they are all sitting on unrealized losses, while long positions have totaled $2 million.

The short positions come despite ongoing short liquidations on UNI that are causing forced buying that is also pushing Uniswap price higher. Per CoinGlass, Uniswap’s short liquidations have outweighed long liquidations for three straight days since September 21.
Uniswap Price Flashes an Overbought Signal as Bulls Test Key Resistance
The one-week chart shows that Uniswap price is testing the resistance at $11. Uniswap has not closed above this resistance since August 2025, suggesting that it could be the ideal price at which sellers are booking profits.
If the buying pressure remains strong and UNI value closes above $11, it could rise to the December 2024 high of $17.
The RSI reading of 75 suggests that the bullish momentum is strong, and this could aid the move above $11. Still, this RSI is close to the overbought region of 80, where UNI price could correct once buyers reach exhaustion.

A correction could push Uniswap price to support at the Point of Control (PoC) line at $6,.64. This PoC line is the price at which many past buyers entered the market.
