XRP Price Surged 50% as ETF Inflows Hit a Weekly High. Will the Rally Hold?
Highlights
- The largest inflows into XRP ETFs since May were recorded, increasing demand.
- XRP price held above $1.40 support despite cooling momentum and profit-taking.
- A break above $1.60 could unlock $1.70 and $1.80 targets.
XRP price hovered near $1.47 after cooling, following a 50% surge during the past week.
The overall cryptocurrency market has gained 1.61% in the last 24 hours, and the market cap has reached about $2.62 trillion.
Bitcoin price stayed above $77,000, and Ethereum price stood at $2,400 as the improving mood boosted profits in the cryptocurrencies. The institutional and retail involvement rose with the Fear and Greed Index remaining in the greed range.
Institutional Demand Strengthens XRP Rally
Institutional growth optimism was boosted as spot XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs) had their highest weekly inflows since May. The product got $39.8 million in 4 weekly inflow sessions.
That was their highest week since mid-May when similar funds raised about $60.5 million.
Spot $XRP ETFs just saw their best week since May.

Daily net inflows for United States spot XRP ETFs on August 21 were worth $18.38 million.
Trading volume of the listed products was valued $94.03 million which maintained the investors’ interest.
Total net assets rose to $1.33 billion and cumulative inflows since launch rose to $1.55 billion.
That equated to almost 1.54% of XRP’s total market value, which demonstrates the products’ growing market share.

But, XRP needs to defend the recent support levels to continue the momentum following its surging weekly rise.
Demand for the ETF coupled with a relatively quiet environment could encourage further advances but there is a near-term risk of profit-taking.
Will the Rally Continue?
As of writing, the XRP price rallied almost 50% during the weekly rally, reaching the $1.45 mark. The token, however, fell back from $1.60 after traders took profits on the sharp rally.
On the 4-hour chart, XRP is still holding to the critical $1.40 support level. This area is the key to see if the bigger bull market structure is going to hold or not.
The Relative Strength Index fell back to 58.80 from overbought levels. This pull-back indicates that momentum has weakened a bit, however, XRP remains moderately bullish.
The MACD line meanwhile crossed below the signal line, engendering a bearish crossover. The negative histogram reading of 0.0170 also points to increasing short term pressure.

A recovery above $1.50 could help XRP target the recent $1.60 resistance level. The momentum above $1.60 could pave the way to levels of $1.70 and $1.80.
But the loss of $1.40 could lead to more losses for XRP with a move back to $1.30. If selling pressure persists, the next major support level would come at $1.20.
