Geely Sweden

Appointment extends a five-year Concordium-Geely partnership and brings 26 years of automotive and financial leadership to a board building infrastructure for verified digital interactions and AI agents.

ZUG, Switzerland, – The Concordium Foundation today announced the appointment of Per Ansgar, Chief Executive Officer of Geely Sweden Holdings AB, to its Board, adding an executive with more than 26 years of experience across Volvo Cars, Polestar and the wider Geely group.

The appointment deepens a five-year relationship between Concordium and the Geely group, which began in 2021 with a shared vision for autonomous driving and was formalised the following year through a joint venture based in Wuxi, China. Ansgar joins as Concordium expands its focus on infrastructure for verified digital interactions, including payments and AI agents, bringing an industrial and operational perspective to a board whose existing expertise spans cryptography, law, digital operations and business.

As companies begin deploying AI agents and software capable of initiating transactions, Concordium is developing infrastructure designed to establish who owns and authorises those agents and who is accountable when something goes wrong. Ansgar’s background is directly relevant to this shift, as the automotive industry moves machine-initiated payments from concept toward real-world applications, including connected vehicles settling charging sessions, tolls and service fees.

Ansgar has served as CEO of Geely Sweden Holdings since November 2024, following his previous role as the company’s Chief Financial Officer. Before joining Geely Sweden Holdings, he spent 26 years at Volvo Cars, including as Deputy CFO and Chief Financial Officer of Volvo Cars China. He later served as Chief Financial Officer of Polestar. Alongside his current executive role, Ansgar holds board positions across the Geely group and serves on the nomination committee of Volvo Car AB (publ).

The Concordium Foundation Board is chaired by founder Lars Seier Christensen and includes Ueli Maurer, Professor of Cryptography at ETH Zurich; Swiss commercial lawyer Simone Monnerat; and digital executive Nibras Stiebar-Bang.

“Vehicles, and the software inside them, are becoming parties to transactions in their own right,” said Per Ansgar. “Trust used to mean a driver’s signature. Now it has to mean proof of who authorised a payment and who is answerable for it. That is the problem Concordium is solving, and it is why I am very happy to be joining the board.”

That relationship began with a shared view of where automotive technology was heading, including a vision of vehicles interacting directly with electric power providers, toll stations, service stations and tax systems through machine-initiated payments. Ansgar’s appointment brings senior Geely leadership directly into Concordium’s governance as the network builds infrastructure for the next stage of that model, where verified AI agents, alongside verified humans, can transact while remaining linked to an accountable owner.

Concordium’s Agent Registry went live in May  2026 and has since registered more than 1,600 AI agents, each linked to a verified owner. Registered agents carry a Verified by Concordium Badge that can be used across networks including Ethereum and Solana, allowing them to prove information about their owners without exposing underlying company documents.
