an image of Trump and to represent the Iran war

Highlights

  • Trump told Fox News that talks with Iranian leaders was possible.
  • Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi ruled out negotiations with the U.S.
  • Iran carried out fresh drone strikes on Israel today.
  • Bitcoin has retraced some of its gains after climbing above $71,000 earlier today.

U.S. President Donald Trump is not ruling out talks with Iran over a potential ceasefire to the U.S.-Iran war. His latest remarks come just as the Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi ruled out negotiations with the U.S. to end the war.

Trump Says Peace Talks On U.S.-Iran War Possible

According to a FOX report, Trump said that he may have talks with Iranian leaders towards ending the war. “I’m hearing they want to talk badly,” Trump said. However, the president noted that peace talks on the U.S.-Iran war would depend on the terms.

Trump’s latest remarks come just hours after he said that the Iran war could end soon, stating that the war is pretty much complete. The president’s openness to talks signals a massive shift after he rejected the possibility of peace talks last week. Back then, he remarked that the only way they could reach a deal was through an “unconditional surrender” by Iran.

However, Iran remains adamant and has reiterated several times that it is not seeking peace talks with the U.S. According to a Times of Israel report, the country’s Foreign Minister Araghchi said that negotiations with the U.S. are no longer on the table.

He also mentioned that his country will continue the U.S.-Iran war for as long as is necessary in response to Trump’s statement that the conflict could end soon. “The firing continues, and we are well prepared to continue attacking them with our missiles as long as needed, and as long as it takes,” the Foreign Minister said.

Rising oil prices have become a major talking point as the war escalates, with Iran’s move to close the Strait of Hormuz also contributing to the surge in oil prices. However, oil prices fell yesterday as Trump threatened Iran with a military response “twenty times harder” if it tried to disrupt oil flows in this major oil chokepoint. TradingView data shows that WTI crude oil futures are trading just below $90, down over 5% today.

Iran Carries Out Fresh Strikes on Day 11

According to an Al Jazeera report, the Iranian army confirmed that it launched drone attacks targeting Israeli oil and gas refineries and fuel tanks in Haifa as the U.S.-Iran war enters day 11. The Israeli army stated that it had identified the missiles from Iran and was making efforts to intercept the threat.

Iran’s attack comes after Israel launched a “broad wave” of strikes on Tehran at Midnight. Meanwhile, the Gulf countries faced fresh waves of strikes from Iran despite Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s statement over the weekend that they had decided not to attack neighboring countries again, except if missiles are launched from those countries.

The U.S.-Iran war could further escalate today as the U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said during a briefing that today will be the ‘most intense day’ of U.S. strikes on Iran. The Bitcoin price has retraced some of its gains from earlier in the day amid these developments.

TradingView data shows that the leading crypto is currently trading at around $70,700, up over 3% today. BTC had climbed above $71,000 after Trump stated yesterday that the Iran war could end soon.
