Meme Coins to Buy as Bitcoin Struggles to Sustain Support at $70K
Bitcoin elated the cryptocurrency community a few days ago as its price moved above the $70K mark. Geopolitical and economic headwinds, ranging from Donald Trump’s declaration of a large-scale operation in Iran to ETF inflows, pushed the apex crypto just above the $74K level.
It did not take long for influencers on X to arrive with their overly bullish predictions. Some are bordering on delusion, saying “BTC IS GOING TO $500K” soon.
BITCOIN IS GOING TO $500,000
In 12 months, people will pay anything to go back to current prices and buy more BTC

Such posts are often quickly (and rightly) brushed aside as “engagement-hogging” posts, since two days after staying above $70K, BTC is singing the same old bearish tune.
This has resulted in people’s eyes focusing on which meme coins to buy, as low-cap short-term bets are sounding more appealing than the high-cap gamble that is Bitcoin.
Bitcoin’s Continued Failure Keeping Fear Alive
While there are “bulls”, and we use this term loosely, trying to keep the positive vibes around BTC alive, bears are saying that Bitcoin may not move past the $100K mark this year.
More extreme skeptics on Reddit have even said that Bitcoin and crypto have peaked as much as they could. More balanced heads, however, are just observing the stark reality brought on by Bitcoin’s quick dropoff from $74K to the $67K zone.
Fear is sustained as the Crypto Fear and Greed Index is still pointing to 19, the extreme fear zone. In terms of technicals, near-term indicators suggest that BTC could continue to trade at its current level. But with the geopolitical scenario becoming increasingly volatile, chances of BTC reaching a new low remain high.
At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at $68K after experiencing a 3% drop in the last 24 hours. The only reason this drop didn’t aggravate was because of the 18% decline in trading volume, suggesting that long-term believers may be taking a “hold and forget” stance rather than buying more.
Prospects are looking greener on the meme coin side of the aisle though. While the large-cap meme assets are still trading red, there are a couple of new cryptos that continue to paint green candles.
Meme Coins to Buy That Continue to Paint Green Candles
Bitcoin’s failure is driving some attention towards meme coins because of their low-cap status and honest take on high-risk, high rewards. The following are some of the picks being considered the best meme coins to buy right now.
Pippin
Despite being volatile and losing in double digits since last week, Pippin continues to be one of the best short-term bets for low-cap traders. Currently trading at $0.3281, PIPPIN has surged by 79.58% in the last 1 month.
The 24-minute chart on TradingView shows that Pippin is attempting to breach the recent high of $0.37. A rejection at this level could lead to a sharp drawdown to make PIPPIN retest support at $0.30.
If, however, the community continues to be positive about the asset and pushes it past that resistance point, investors can expect higher gains.
Based Eggman
While Based Eggman isn’t available to be traded on exchanges, its current momentum as a presale asset potentially makes it one of the safer options for investors right now.
Inspired by the villainous and comical character from the popular video game, Sonic the Hedgehog, Based Eggman gets its name from the GenZ slang that means a nonchalant approach to truth and from the token being designed on the Base blockchain.
While the meme coin is taking a joke-first approach, its ecosystem is deep, complete with a decentralized exchange, staking, trading communities, and a mobile gaming platform.
Community interest in the token has surged for that reason, causing Based Eggman ($GGs) to raise upwards of $311K at the time of writing.
Currently available at a discount price of $0.010838, Based Eggman could be considered a strong pick for early movers trying to capitalize on the current market’s volatility.
Furthermore, developers are running a 50% bonus right now. Those who buy “Based Eggman” using the code “BASED-50” will get the said bonus.
Ape and Pepe
Ape and Pepe (APEPE) first made its entry in 2023. However, it is only recently that it has appeared on the first page of the top meme coins by market capitalization.
A meme coin that takes its inspiration from two robust blockchain phenomena, APE from NFTs and PEPE from memes, has been listed on 30 exchanges, both centralized and decentralized.
The increased exposure has allowed APEPE, currently priced at $0.000001088, to move up by 30% since last month.
The 24-hour chart shows that the token’s price action is following a linear upward progression. However, since the RSI is 72, it could be seen as an overbought token. That said, the profile score on CoinMarketCap indicates a strong trust factor among investors.
Final Thoughts
Bitcoin’s current price action continues to paint it as a high-cap gamble at a time when delusional bulls outpace cooler heads in terms of engagement. This sets a precedent for a degen-led ecosystem, where high-risk behavior is rewarded.
Meme coins could therefore be considered better options for most intraday investors. While risky, their low-cap status plus the community’s adjusted expectations make them a stronger low-cap bet. Furthermore, with certain meme coin ICOs offering robust features, investors have a larger bouquet of assets to pick from.
