NEAR Protocol price fell 8% to $4.91 over 24 hours on Thursday, underperforming the broader cryptocurrency market. The drop came after NEAR Intents was hit by a $3.8 million exploit that temporarily halted services.
NEAR Protocol price is claimed to have fallen 7% in the last 10 minutes after the incident became public.
The pullback interrupted a strong rally, with NEAR price gaining 148% over the preceding 30 days.
Bitwise launched its first U.S. spot NEAR ETF on September 29, expanding access through conventional brokerage accounts.
Bitcoin price had climbed above $84,000, while Ethereum hovered above $2,700 and XRP traded around $1.48.
NEAR Intents Pauses Services After $3.8M Loss.
NEAR Intents said engineers identified a flaw involving the Omni infrastructure used for deposits and withdrawals. The bug affected its interaction with the service’s smart contract, according to the team’s preliminary account.
Operations were halted while developers investigated the incident and addressed the contract vulnerability. The team estimated losses at approximately $3.8 million and pledged to reimburse all affected assets.
A patch has been deployed, according to the announcement, which projected service restoration within roughly one hour. That estimate covered NEAR Intents and near.com, while repairs to Omni infrastructure required additional time.

Deposits and withdrawals across eleven networks were expected to remain suspended for about twelve more hours. Those networks include BSC, Polygon, TON, Optimism, Avalanche, Stellar, Monad, X Layer, ADI, Scroll and Plasma.
Users holding tokens from those networks inside NEAR Intents could still exchange them after core services resume. This also applies to assets accessed through HOT Wallet or near.com, according to the statement.
The project said it had notified law enforcement and engaged security specialists and blockchain analytics partners. Investigators are tracing the stolen funds, while the team plans to publish a detailed account in the coming days.
Will NEAR Protocol Price Face More Downside After Intent Hack
The four-hour market placed NEAR price at $4.905, with the latest candle recording a 4.07% decline. The move below $5.00 leaves that former support level as the first barrier to a recovery.
The relative strength index (RSI) measured 45.05, below the neutral midpoint of 50.
The MACD line stood at 0.079, trailing the signal line at 0.093, with a histogram reading of −0.015. The bearish configuration suggests weakening momentum, even though both indicator lines remain above zero.

Resistance near $5.50 may be up for a retest if the NEAR long-range prediction is able to sustain a four-hour close above $5.00.
NEAR Protocol price support is near $4.5, at the lower end of the recent trading range. A decisive break beneath it could expose the previous breakout area near $4.00.
