COIN and CRCL Stock Price Prediction Ahead of US PCE Inflation Data
Highlights
- COIN an CRCL stock prices are dropping in pre-market trading.
- CRCL stock has dropped to a 10-day low while COIN is testing support at $190.
- The drop comes ahead of the release of the US PCE inflation data on September 30.
Coinbase (NASDAQ: COIN) and Circle (NYSE: CRCL) stock prices are set for a volatile week ahead of the release of the US Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) inflation data on September 30.
Three Federal Reserve officials will also be speaking at various events between September 28 and October 2, and could also cause a surge in volatility for risk assets depending on whether their remarks raise or lower the odds of the Fed hiking interest rates.
Crypto Stocks Brace for PCE Inflation Data Release
The US PCE inflation data for August comes out on September 30 and data from MarketWatch shows that investors expect the headline inflation to come in at 3.6%, with this being a drop from 3.7% in July 2026.
The core PCE is also expected to increase by 0.3% month-on-month, while the year-over-year increase is expected to drop from 3.3% in July 2026 to 3.2% in August 2026.
Recently, Bitmine’s Chairman, Tom Lee, noted that the PCE year-over-year inflation could drop to 3% because of a change in the data calculation to better reflect actual spending patterns. Such a drop coil be bullish for COIN and CRCL stock prices.
The PCE data release comes two weeks after the US CPI fell in line with expectations at 3.4%. The release also comes as investors remain divided over whether the Fed will announce more rate hikes in 2026.
Data from CoinGape prediction markets shows that there is a 65% chance that the Fed will hike rates y 25 basis points in October.

The odds could drop or increase this week as three Fed officials, John Williams, Austan Goolsbee and Lorie Logan, speak at different events this week where they could shed light on the Fed’s view on inflation.
COIN Stock Price Defends Key Support
COIN stock price, like CRCL, was down by 1.7% in pre-market trading today, September 28. The stock closed trading at $195 in the week ending September 25.
The one-week chart now shows that COIN stock price might move lower to test the support at $190. If it also closes below this support, the stock might drop to the support zone between $163 and $170.
However, the RSI line that is tipping north suggests that the bullish momentum is gaining strength as Coinbase expands its service offerings.

If this RSI continues to create higher highs, it could suggest a bullish divergence that could lead to a sustained uptrend towards the resistance at the 50-week EMA of $199.
CRCL Stock Price Extends Decline Amid Leadership Changes
While the upcoming release of the US PCE inflation data on September 30 could cause volatility for CRCL stock price, the ongoing leadership changes at the company, as the CFO steps down, are also pushing the stock price down.
Circle shares dropped by 4.3% on September 25, and it is also down by 3% in pre-market trading today, September 28.
This drop has pushed CRCL stock price to a ten-day low. If the selling pressure increases when the market opens today, September 28, the shares could drop to the support at $80.

The CMF line that is dropping to the negative side suggests that the selling pressure is becoming strong. The MACD line that is dropping albeit being positive also suggests that bulls are losing their grip.
CRCL stock price will confirm a trend reversal if the price moves above the resistance at $98.
