Dogecoin Price Forecast as Bitwise CEO Calls DOGE ETF Failure ‘Tragic’ Ahead of October 14 Closure
Highlights
- Dogecoin price is in focus ahead of the closure of the Bitwise DOGE ETF on October 14.
- The ETF is closing with $692,000 in net assets, with Bitwise CEO calling it a tragic failure.
- Dogecoin price is up slightly despite the news, with bulls targeting $0.092.
Dogecoin (DOGE) was the biggest gainer among the top ten biggest cryptos by market cap at the time of writing after rising by 1.3% in 24 hours to trade at $0.086 at the time of writing.
The gains come even as Bitwise readies to shut down its Dogecoin ETF next week on October 14 after barely one year of trading.
Bitwise CEO Weighs in on BWOW ETF Closure
As previously reported by CoinGape, Bitwise is shutting down its Dogecoin ETF, BWOW, which launched in November 2025.
Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley has now weighed in on the shutdown, calling it ”tragic.” Per Horsley, the weak demand for the Dogecoin ETF revealed a disparity between the traders who trade ETF products and those who trade the top meme coin on exchanges.
“Those ETFs did nothing… The users of ETFs just didn’t want to put money into Dogecoin. But that may change over time,” Horsley opined.
The Bitwise BWOW ETF has not seen any inflows since August 24, per SoSoValue data. The ETF has also only seen one day of inflows since it started trading in November 2025.
Meanwhile, Dogecoin ETFs have not seen any inflows since the beginning of October, with this outlook further highlighting weak demand for the products.
Dogecoin’s Open Interest Plunges as Leverage Cools
Data from CoinGlass shows a notable decline in Dogecoin’s open interest from 16.57 billion DOGE on October 8 to 15.18 billion DOGE at the time of writing.
The 1.39 billion DOGE decline in open interest within two days suggests that the demand for Dogecoin futures products is becoming weak as investors minimize risk.

The OI is falling amid an increase in selling pressure, as earlier reported by CoinGape. An increase in liquidations is also flushing out the excess leverage on Dogecoin.
Per CoinGlass, Dogecoin has recorded more than $35 million in liquidations since October 7, with long buyers facing the biggest losses.
Dogecoin Price Prediction as Bulls Target $0.092
Dogecoin price has filled an FVG gap created after the price dropped from $0.087 to $0.082 on October 8.
The meme coin has now moved above the midline of this FVG gap, and it is testing it as support. If it holds, it will indicate that the uptrend is gaining strength.
Another bullish leg will push Dogecoin price to the midline of the second FVG gap at $0.092.
The AO bars that are green and shrinking in length while remaining on the negative side support this bullish future Dogecoin forecast of a move towards $0.092.

However, the RSI warns that the momentum is still weak, and a surge in buying pressure is needed to support the uptrend.
