History’s Biggest Crypto Hacks That Shook the Cryptocurrency Industry

The cryptocurrency sector has seen many devastating security breaches over the last decade. These occurrences have led to billions worth of digital assets being stolen and a loss of trust in centralized platforms.

One of the biggest crypto heists was the Bybit hack in February 2025. The attackers were able to steal about $1.5 billion in Ethereum, and investigators have pointed to North Korean hackers as the culprits behind the attack.

A number of cryptocurrency projects have reacted and frozen or recovered affected tokens. These interventions show how vital blockchain monitoring and collaborative security efforts are.
