Polymarket has expanded beyond prediction markets with a perpetual futures platform offering up to 20x leverage. International users can trade crypto, stocks, indices and commodities through one interface.
Polymarket Perps Goes Live Across Multiple Markets
Polymarket Launches Perpetual Futures Trading With Up to 20x Leverage, giving traders access to several asset classes. Users can take long or short positions while choosing leverage of up to 20x.
The initial lineup covers 10 markets, including BTC, ETH, SOL and HYPE. Gold, silver, the S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, WTI oil and SPCX are also available. Polymarket said Perps offers “deepest liquidity, lowest fees” for traders using the platform.
Access is available internationally in jurisdictions where the service is legally permitted. Traders can also use the platform around macro events such as Federal Reserve decisions and movements in major equity indices.
Polymarket Expands Beyond Prediction Markets
The launch adds leveraged derivatives to Polymarket’s existing prediction market business. Perpetual futures have no fixed expiry date, allowing users to maintain positions as long as they meet margin requirements.
Meanwhile, Polymarket is working to increase the capacity of its trading infrastructure. The company is targeting 200,000 orders per second, around 15 times its current throughput. Its architecture is also being developed to eventually handle more than 400,000 orders per second.
Early testing has recorded a 10 to 20 times improvement in p99 latency. This measure tracks slower transactions during busy periods and can indicate how consistently the platform processes orders under heavier trading activity.
US Trading Remains Subject to Regulatory Rules
Polymarket Perps is rolling out internationally while the company continues separate efforts to expand its regulated US operations. Derivatives offered to US customers remain subject to Commodity Futures Trading Commission requirements.
Self-certification of contracts does not represent formal CFTC approval. The regulator can still review or pause contracts before they begin trading in the United States.
Crypto price event contracts are also separate from leveraged perpetual futures. Such contracts allow traders to predict whether assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum or Solana will trade above, below or within specified price levels at a set time.
