The regulatory update has pushed Robinhood’s stock ticking up to the opening bell. HOOD shares were trading at $87.23, up 0.77% in premarket trading on Monday, August 3.
The U.K. Registrar of Financial Conduct said that the FCA registration enables Robinhood’s U.K. business to operate legally and meet U.K. anti-money laundering (AML) requirements while providing the crypto-related services. In 2020, the regulator unveiled its crypto registration system. Over the past few years, over 50 companies have been approved under the framework.
There are already a number of big digital asset companies that are listed on the FCA’s crypto register. Some of these include Ripple and Kraken. The traditional financial institutions that include BlackRock, BNY, are also present.
