AI firm Anthropic has released the public version of its Mythos AI model, ‘Claude Fable.’ Market commentator The Milk Road warned that the release of the Anthropic Mythos model could create short-term FUD, although the risk of a crypto hack is minimal.
Anthropic Mythos Model ‘Claude Fable’ Drops With Guardrails
In an announcement, the AI firm unveiled the launch of Claude Fable 5, a Mythos-class 1 model that they have made safe for general use. They noted that the AI model’s capabilities exceed those of any model that they have ever made generally available.
“It is state-of-the-art on nearly all tested benchmarks of AI capability, showing exceptional performance in software engineering, knowledge work, vision, scientific research, and many other areas. The longer and more complex the task, the larger Fable 5’s lead over our other models,” the firm said about the Anthropic Mythos model.
Anthropic further noted that without safeguards, bad actors could misuse Fable 5’s capabilities for serious damage in areas like cybersecurity. As such, the firm has launched the model with safeguards that ensure queries on some topics will instead receive a response from the next-most-capable model, Claude Opus 4.8.
This move comes as the firm eyes a U.S. IPO. As CoinGape reported, Anthropic has confidentially filed for an IPO with the SEC. The firm could go public at a valuation of up to $1 trillion. It is worth noting that the firm’s rival OpenAI has also confidentially filed for an IPO.
Ahead of the potential release of the Anthropic Mythos model, it is worth noting that President Donald Trump signed an AI executive order that addresses AI security. The executive order proposes that AI developers provide the government with access to AI models they consider “covered frontier models.”
Short-term FUD Is A Possibility
Market commentator The Milk Road noted the possibility of short-term FUD and potential chop in crypto prices if the Anthropic Mythos model drops today. Beyond this, they noted that the likely path is for AI-audited code to become the norm, with serious DeFi teams using these tools to harden their protocols faster than attackers can break them.
The Milk Road also stated that the good news is that smart contracts are hard for Mythos to touch because they are locked in once deployed, and the big protocols “audit them to death.” As such, the exposure lies in products around those smart contracts.
The market commentator warned that front-ends, browser extensions, bridges, and the servers holding private keys are all fair game. They added that an attacker who finds a zero-day there can slip in malicious code and drain wallets before anyone notices.
The potential release of the Anthropic Mythos model comes at a time when the crypto industry is facing a surge in hacks, with hackers stealing over $600 million since early April. The Milk Road noted that the worry is that a tool like Mythos could make these exploits faster and cheaper to run.
