Dogecoin Price Forecast: DOGE Tests 200D EMA Resistance as Whales Open 78M Long Positions
Highlights
- Dogecoin price has flipped resistance at the 200-day EMA.
- The gains come amid surging crypto liquidations and a shifting sentiment.
- Whales have opened over $7M worth of long positions on DOGE as open interest hits a one month high.
Dogecoin (DOGE) price is up by 12% today, September 21, to trade at $0.095 at the time of writing. Dogecoin now ranks as the biggest gainer among the top 20 largest cryptos by market cap.
The gains have prompted a flurry of long positions on the futures market, including by whale addresses that are betting that Dogecoin price could edge higher.
Meanwhile, DOGE price has moved above a crucial resistance level that could precede an over 10% gain.
Whales Open Long Positions on DOGE
Data from CoinGlass shows that four whale addresses have opened long positions on Dogecoin. The four positions are worth 78.2 million DOGE, which is equivalent to $5.59 million.
Each of these four positions is in profit as Dogecoin extends its gains. Meanwhile, the only short position opened in the last 24 hours is sitting at an unrealized loss of $119,000.

Meanwhile, the long/short reading for Dogecoin on Binance and OKX has risen to 2.30 and 2.65, respectively. The reading shows that there are more long accounts than short accounts on the two exchanges.
The long positions come amid a wave of short liquidations across the crypto market. Data from CoinGlass shows that Dogecoin has recorded $5.66 million in short liquidations today, September 21, with this being the biggest short squeeze by the meme coin since August 22.
Dogecoin’s Open Interest Climbs to a One-Month High
Dogecoin’s open interest has also risen to $1.57 billion per CoinGlass data. This is the highest OI reading recorded by the top meme coin since August 22.
The rising OI suggests that there is high demand for futures positions on Dogecoin as traders speculate on where the price is headed next.

The Binance exchange has recorded the biggest uptick in Dogecoin’s open interest, which had risen to $345 million at the time of writing.
CoinGlass shows that Dogecoin’s OI reading has not topped the $345 million mark since May 2026.
Dogecoin Price Eyes $0.10 as Bullish Pattern Forms
Dogecoin price is trading within a double-bottom pattern on the one-day chart. This pattern supports a bullish long-term Dogecoin price forecast as the trend changes from a bearish one to a bullish one.
DOGE has also moved above the resistance of this pattern at $0.090. This move could push Dogecoin towards the double-bottom’s target of $0.102.
The recent gain in Dogecoin has also pushed the price above the 200-day EMA of $0.092. This move above the 200-day EMA suggests that the long-term outlook is now favoring bulls.
The MACD line that has crossed above the signal line further supports the bullish thesis that Dogecoin price might reach the psychological resistance at $0.10 soon.

However, if Dogecoin drops to retest the 200-day EMA as support, the price might move to the 50-day EMA of $0.082 before kickstarting another bullish leg.
