Highlights

  • Circle is now the principal partner of Chelsea FC.
  • The Circle and USDC brands will appear on the team's jerseys.
  • The CRCL stock is down amid this development.

USDC issuer Circle has secured a partnership with Chelsea Football Club as it expands its reach in England. The stablecoin issuer revealed that its brand will appear on the team’s jerseys as part of the partnership, which starts this season.

Circle Announces Partnership With Chelsea FC

In a press release, Chelsea and the stablecoin issuer announced a landmark partnership, with the latter becoming a Principal Partner of the football club and official front-of-shirt partner starting this 2026/2027 season. The Circle and USDC brands will appear on the front of Chelsea’s Men’s, Women’s, and Academy shirts, starting with the club’s home game this Sunday against Brighton.

“The partnership comes at a pivotal moment for the world. Stablecoins are moving from early adoption toward the mainstream, creating an unprecedented opportunity to make money as open, accessible, and useful as the internet itself,” the USDC issuer said.

This partnership comes as Circle seeks to expand its reach, especially in the U.K. It also follows reports that Elon Musk’s X plans to use USDC among other stablecoins to pay creator rewards, which could also provide a massive boost for the company.

Commenting on the partnership with Chelsea, Circle’s CEO Jeremy Allaire noted that partnering with Chelsea connects them with a global sports community built on that exact same borderless vision. Furthermore, the company’s Chief Commercial Officer Kash Razzaghi said Chelsea connects them with hundreds of millions of people across every border, and USDC is digital money that moves across those same borders.

CRCL Stock Price Slips

Circle’s stock is down amid the announcement of this partnership with Chelsea FC. CRCL is currently trading at around $92, down almost 2%, according to TradingView data. CRCL’s stock also slipped earlier this week as banks eye a stablecoin launch that could challenge USDC.

However, the stock is still up over 7% in the last five days as the crypto market continues to rally, with Bitcoin trading above the psychological $80,000 level. The stock is also up over 16% year-to-date (YTD), notably one of the crypto stocks in the green this year.
