  • Cross River Bank partners with Ripple to integrate RLUSD stablecoin payments into its banking infrastructure.
  • XRP Ledger will support faster cross-border payments and settlement through Cross River's banking platform integration.
  • RLUSD stablecoin surpasses $2.5B in market capitalization as institutional payment adoption expands further.

Cross River Bank has signed an agreement with Ripple to connect its stablecoin, RLUSD, to its banking services on the XRP Ledger. The collaboration will enable fintech companies to use blockchain payments, cross-border transfers, and settlement services via a single banking platform.

Cross River Bank Adopts Ripple’s RLUSD for Banking Infrastructure.

According to Cross River, Ripple’s RLUSD will be integrated into its proprietary Core Operating System (COS), which will allow traditional banking services and blockchain payments to be linked. The integration will enable companies to transfer money between USD and RLUSD without keeping multiple blockchain systems.

ACH transfers, wire payments, and real-time settlement will all be supported on the platform via a single API connection. International payments will also be available for businesses to process, and treasury transfers can be made outside banking hours.

Adam Goller, Cross River’s Head of Fintech Banking, explained that the partnership would reduce the need for multiple payment providers.

“Businesses shouldn’t have to rely on several different providers to move money across the globe,” Goller said.

By joining the Cross River, Ripple also broadens its institutional payment network as financial institutions embrace digital asset services. The firm has been doing the same with Ripple’s collaboration with Privy, which has enabled the access to XRP Ledger payments via XRP and RLUSD wallets in the applications.

XRP Ledger to Support Faster RLUSD Settlement

The XRP Ledger will provide the blockchain infrastructure supporting RLUSD transactions within Cross River’s payment system. According to the companies, XRPL transactions typically settle within three to five seconds and cost fractions of a cent.

The network is active around the clock and enables companies to initiate transfers when the traditional banking systems are down. Such features will help Cross River reach its goals of intraday settlement and minimizing delays in cross-border transactions.

RippleX Senior Vice President Markus Infanger explained the significance of bridging stablecoins to the existing banking system.

“Stablecoins are not going to change payments using parallel financial systems, this is going to happen by being part of the banking infrastructure that businesses are using,” he said.

Beyond payments, Ripple has expanded institutional access to RLUSD through Standard Chartered’s launch of custody services for the stablecoin. The service will enable qualified institutional buyers to acquire RLUSD via the bank’s digital asset custody platform.

Cross River Bank has partnered with Ripple to integrate its RLUSD stablecoin into its core banking infrastructure through the XRP Ledger. The partnership will allow fintech companies to access blockchain payments, cross-border transfers, and settlement services through one banking platform.

Ripple’s RLUSD Adoption Expands Across Financial Institutions

Meanwhile, Ripple has reported that RLUSD has surpassed $2.5 billion in market capitalization, including more than $1 billion issued on XRPL. The company also stated that the XRP Ledger has processed more than $1.3 trillion in settlement value.

The stablecoin’s growing circulation has accompanied increased activity across Ripple’s institutional services. Recent RLUSD minting and burning transactions on Ethereum and XRP Ledger further reflect treasury operations across the two networks.

Cross River already operates stablecoin payment infrastructure that connects blockchain networks with regulated banking services. Adding RLUSD gives its business customers another settlement option while retaining access to conventional payment systems.

However, Cross River Bank has confirmed that the services are currently available only in limited U.S. states.
