Elon Musk’s SpaceXAI to Release Grok 4.5 as GPT-5.6 and Fable 5 Intensify AI Race
Highlights
- Elon Musk revealed that SpaceXAI will release Grok 4.5 to the public tomorrow.
- The AI model will be Opus-class model but faster and more token-efficient.
- This comes as the AI race intensifies with the imminent launch of OpenAI's GPT-5.6.
Elon Musk has revealed that SpaceXAI will release its latest AI model, Grok 4.5, to the public tomorrow following beta-phase testing. This comes as the AI race intensifies with the launch of Anthropic’s Fable 5 and the imminent launch of OpenAI’s GPT-5.6.
SpaceXAI To Release Grok 4.5 To The Public Tomorrow
In an X post, Elon Musk stated that SpaceXAI will make Grok 4.5 available to the public tomorrow, citing strong positive customer feedback from its beta test program. “It is an Opus-class model, but faster, more token-efficient, and lower cost,” he said about the AI model.
This comes as the AI race between the top AI firms, including OpenAI and Anthropic, intensifies. Anthropic released Fable 5 and Mythos 5 last month, which it declared its most powerful AI models yet. Notably, the U.S. government had imposed an export control ban on these AI models, which was only recently lifted.
Meanwhile, the imminent launch of the Grok 4.5 model comes amid the planned release of OpenAI’s GPT-5.6. As CoinGape reported, OpenAI has gotten approval from the Commerce Department for the broad launch of the AI model.
In an X post, OpenAI said that GPT-5.6 Sol, along with Terra and Luna, will launch publicly tomorrow, coinciding with Grok 4.5’s public release. OpenAI had sparked crypto buzz after it revealed its latest AI models as Sol, Terra, and Luna, sharing the same names as certain crypto assets.
Details On The Latest SpaceXAI Model
In an X post, developer Tetsuo noted that the Grok 4.5 model runs on V9, xAI’s new 1.5-trillion-parameter foundation model, roughly three times the size of the v8-small architecture behind Grok 4.3. “It’s the largest model the company has shipped, trained on Blackwell GPUs at the Colossus cluster in Memphis,” he said.

Tetsuo further noted that coding is the clear focus of this AI model, that SpaceXAI added Cursor’s developer data to supplemental training, and that reinforcement learning has been improving the model daily alongside the Grok Build harness. CoinGape had earlier reported on SpaceXAI’s acquisition of Cursor.
Meanwhile, the developer mentioned that the next foundation model, already in training, will include Cursor data from the start of pre-training. Further commenting on Grok 4.5, he added, “This is the first flagship under SpaceXAI since the merger, and the plan is a from-scratch foundation model shipping every month through the end of 2026.
