Bitcoin, AI Coins Bounce as Nvidia Signs $20B AI Inference Deal with Groq

Highlights

  • Jensen Huang sold $49 million worth of NVDA stocks this week.
  • This takes the total value of stocks sold in two months above $500 million.
  • Several analysts expect a better-than-expected Q2 earnings.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang sold $49M NVDA shares adding to his recent offload gaining market attention. Huang’s strategy comes from a plan he filed in March, placing him ahead of the wider stock market dip last week. NVDA stock has gained 13% this week to trade at $104.74 amid strengthening macro factors.

Nvidia CEO Continues Stock Sale

Jensen Huang recently sold 470,000 NVDA stock worth approximately $49 million from his holdings. Recent activities show Huang has sold over $500 million in shares in the last two months and $49 million this week.  In July, he sold $322.7 million of NVDA taking him above the stock sell-off.

The artificial intelligence (AI) chip manufacturer gained trader attention this year after huge gains, temporarily displacing Microsoft and Apple at one point. However, Nvidia CEO continues to sell from his portfolio as it comes under pressure. Major pressures come from investors questioning the impact of AI spending on the firm’s corporate earnings. Huang’s recent offload is not in isolation as the company’s insiders have sold over $1 billion worth of shares this year amid the AI-inspired rally.

Per a recent filing, the CEO plans more stock sales this month. NVDA price closed Friday at $104.75 and dropped 0.21%. This week, the asset jumped 13.8% making a recovery from the previous stock dip. However, the last 30 days saw the asset decline by 22.36%.

AI Fuels NVDA Projections

As the market awaits Nvidia’s second-quarter earnings, several analysts have tipped an improved figure from last year. To put it in perspective, although recent monthly numbers declined, the company has posted better-than-expected numbers since Q2 2023 as AI continues to dominate narratives. According to Bloomberg, Meta, Amazon, Microsoft and other customers of the chip manufacturer plan to increase AI infrastructure.

However, last week’s stock swing and recent Q2 earnings of Amazon and Intel cast slight doubt on some investors coupled with recent U.S. Employment data.
