President Donald Trump has announced he’ll speak to the nation on Thursday at 9:00 PM ET, sparking widespread speculation about the topic of his speech. The early reports were that the speech was going to be about the tensions between the US and Iran. But emerging reports from MS NOW indicate that Trump will be discussing newly declassified intelligence reports related to foreign interference in the 2020 election.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, FBI Director Kash Patel and Acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte will be with Trump for the speech as per MS NOW.

Speech Expected To Focus On Declassified Intelligence

The declassified intelligence reports date back to early 2021 and were first released by the Department of Justice, the FBI, and the Department of Homeland Security.

It assessed whether foreign governments had intervened in the election process and possibly affected the security or integrity of that process.

The report looked specifically at the infrastructure for the election, vote counting, the voter registration systems, and the dissemination of election results.

The report went on to state that investigators were unable to locate any evidence that any foreign government-affiliated actor prevented voters from voting, changed votes, altered ballots, disrupted vote counting or interfered with the timely transmission of election results.

Russian and Iranian cyber campaigns have successfully penetrated some networks of election functions, the report said. But investigators found no evidence that these events had any significant impact on the integrity of voter records or ballots, the count of votes, or the results of the election.

“Other allegations by Iran that cast doubt on the integrity of the U.S. electoral system were also inaccurate or exaggerated,” officials said.

Markets Turn To Trump’s Upcoming Speech

The Thursday evening speech should offer greater details of the newly declassified intelligence and how the administration has interpreted it. The address will be closely followed by lawmakers and political parties along with several top national security officials, who are expected to be in attendance, as rumours continue of the delivery of the intelligence information.
