Highlights

  • Metaplanet transferred 1,350 BTC worth approximately $108 million to Coinbase Prime.
  • The move has fueled speculation that Metaplanet could sell part of its Bitcoin holdings.
  • Bitcoin is struggling to establish a sustained breakout above the critical $80,000 resistance.

The leading Bitcoin treasury firm, Metaplanet, is once again on the investors’ radar with its recent BTC moves. Notably, as BTC price continue to target a succesfull breach of the $80,000 resistance, the Bitcoin treasury firm has moved 1,350 coins into Coinbase Prime, sparking selloff fears.

It’s worth noting that Metaplanet has made similar moves a flurry of times earlier this month, which has further fueled speculations. In addition, it also comes as Strategy has halted its BTC buying and shifted its focus to increasing its “USD Cash” reserve.

Metaplanet Moves $108M in BTC Fueling Concerns

In a recent X post, on-chain transaction tracking platform Lookonchain reported that Metaplanet has moved 1,350 BTC, valued at around $108 million, to Coinbase Prime. Notably, this transfer has raised fresh questions over whether the firm could be preparing to sell part of its holdings.

Meanwhile, the transaction also followed another notable transaction earlier this week. As per the transaction detail of August 25, the firm has moved 1,000 Bitcoin, worth $79.77 million to the same institutional trading platform.

Notably, the back-to-back transfers have intensified speculation among crypto market participants, especially as Bitcoin price attempts to overcome a key resistance level. While transferring coins to an exchange-linked custody platform does not necessarily mean an immediate sale, it often fuels speculation among traders.

Besides, the transfer is further notable as Metaplanet has purchased 43,000 BTC at an average price of $96,191. However, Arkham data showed that the firm currently holds 38.65K BTC, valued at around $3.07 billion. The firm has also posted a $20 million profit in the first half of 2026.

Bitcoin Price & Strategy in Focus

The Metaplanet transfer is further notable as another leading Bitcoin treasury, Strategy, has also halted its BTC buying strategy. Instead, Strategy has shifted focus towards its “USD Cash” reserves.

Besides, it also comes as recent reports that Strategy and Metaplanet’s delisting from the MSCI Index have fueled discussions among market participants. Meanwhile, as of writing, BTC price traded near the flatline at $79,133, falling from a 24-hour high of $81,281.

Now, the market participants would also keep close track of developments surrounding Metaplanet and the price movements of Bitcoin. If BTC price continues to surge, it could help boost the appeal of the firms as well among traders.
